Looking for owners manual for coleman powermate 4000
I got this generator from my mom.It hasn't been fired up for 10+ yrs.
It's real close to starting but just wont quite turn over.
Need a manual.
Oh ya...the last thing I'm going to try is a new spark plug.

First you need to change the plug with a new one with the same heat range(too long time).Priming the engine few times(put some gas in the cilinder through the plug hole)and start the engine until it runs constantly.

A friend gave me a Coleman powermate generator model # pmo545208. I discovered that it had no spark , well it still does not due to lack of time but any way i have been looking for a owners manual online for about 3 to 4 weeks and from what i see so are a lot of other people just like you Sir and myself well may I say to you and all else who are seeking the same as i was LOOK YE NO MORE.simply call the company that took over POWERMATE when it went bankrupt some years ago but kept thier name and phone number. That company is PRAMAC. the phone number is 1-800-445-1805 i think they are located in the eastern part of the US. but anyway i had an owners manual,a operators manual and a operating and maintenance manual in just seconds. You will need a PDF reader or unlocker to view them , may i suggest opening before burning to a disc or printing .Anyway have a nice day and HAPPY NEW YEAR JAMES NEWMAN
couple things you can do . drain carb and put new gas in , check air filter ( take it off and try to start with filter off ) , open petcock , and finally take shroud off and sand the rust off the flywheel where magnets are . let me know what you find , email@example.com
Yes, SAE5W30 is just the right oil for this machine,it will take about a quart to fill it up to the bottom of the threads in the oil fill hole. The engine of this generator is essentially just like a lawn mower with a fixed throttle setting. You should expect all of the same issues as any small engine that's been sitting for a while. Check the fuel tank for water/debris, check the carb for fouling, check the spark plug, etc.
If the generator has been sitting for 3+ years without running you may need to flash it to get any voltage out of it. If you get the engine running and it won't make any electricity ask me directly and I'll talk you thru the procedure.
I looked on www.powermate.com for an owners manual but they only seem to have the parts list, rats.
I have to leave a comment for cfa6094. Your pretty good at flexing your cyber muscles. I am a service tech in the repair field and deal with people like you all the time. If you are the owner of the equipment you should properly maintain your equipment. Sounds like you are not very organized. Sound more like crises management to me. Is mrfixit the only person you asked about this problem? One more thing, sound like you are a bit of a procrastinator to me. LOOK AT ME NO SPELL CHECK!
