Check if your laptop battery is working properly and replace it if necessary.

mostly you can do this pressing Fn+F3 keys in your keyboard... check your function keys for a icon that looks like a battery (F1 to F12) or check your users manual on how to verify/view the battery information window.

Hope this helps, please rate.

There are several solutions to your problem, the battary may be bad, the charger may not be charging the battery or the power supply in the laptop could be malfunctioning.
You can check the output of your battery charger with a volt meter, as for the battery and the power supply, you would need to take it to a repair depot or call one of your local computer repair facilities.

This indicates a motherboard issue, remove main battery and test, if no change! remove the ram memory one at a time and test each, if no result! it is time to get a professional in to assess.

NEW Battery not properly charging

Batteries have electronics data that software has to get to properly charge it. Newer lithium batteries maybe different. But apparently, you have a work around for a lengthy use of the new battery.

Gateway m-1625 battery won't hold any charge? Laptop/battery less than 2 years old... Thanks

Laptop batteries have a lifetime defined in charge cycles. The unfortunate thing is that running a battery down to 80% is the same as using it down to 10% as far as a charge cycle is concerned. The average battery life is in the neighborhood of 300-400 cycles. In short, time for a new battery. You may be able to wring some more life out of this one, though: try letting your laptop drain the battery COMPLETELY by leaving it on until it goes dead, then recharging fully.

All you need to do is to call GATEWAY technical support. If your laptop still under warranty then they will replace either the motherboard or the power adapter. But regarding on this issue that you have, my first suspect is that your power adapter is bad and secondly the motherboard.

My Gateway 9550 will not power on.

The power adapter, dose it match the voltage and the polarity shown on the bottom label of the laptop?

The voltage will be shown in V, for example 19.5V

and the polarity will look like this:

Make sure the charger is the same polarity as the laptop label says on the bottom, if its incorrect it may ruin your laptop.

My Gateway laptop that I purchased two years ago has stopped working all of a sudden yesterday. I was on it and had to restart it a couple of times yesterday and then finally when I went to turn it back...

I reccommend you open the laptop and remove the bios battery. this is a small flat round shape battery, leave out of the machine for 20 minutes, then insert it again and power on the laptop. :)

Doesnt stat up and no light showing charge

Hi,
Here's one way to determine the problem.
Take the battery out and try to boot on AC power only, if it boots turn it back off, reinsert the battery again and try to boot.
Sometimes you just have to take the battery out and plug it back in again, with others it is the battery and you have to leave then out until a replacement is bought.
If it still won't boot on AC only, remove and reinsert the memory, try to boot the computer and listen for any beeps.
Post back if you need further assistance.

Good luck.

Cant get it to turn on or charge

Flashing red light 3 times and won't boot. I recently recalibrated the battery and again the 3 flashing red lights. Seem to be draining the battery fast. It's also a new battery...which work for about 2 weeks before the 3 flashing red lights first started. Now 2 batteries later. It won't boot.
