Question about Lexmark X1150 All-In-One InkJet Printer
All of a sudden the printer has lost communication with my computer and the power button flashes. I can shut it off - but when I press the power button again it still flashes. The scanner works and the copy button makes a noise like it is scanning to memory but then just sits there rather than print. I've tried everything I can think of - unplug, disconnect every connection, take cartridges out and replace them (not with new because I know they are basically new and they printed fine less than 24 hours before this happened), tried to have the printer communicate with the PC in many different ways. Still no printing and power button flashes.......Any suggestions?
Yes solved it - clean the ink cartridge sensors on the right of the printer where the ink cartridge go to be parked - they do a test before printing and they can get caked with ink from previous testing and thus it will most like be the black one has a problem since it does the most printing - you will need get the ink cartriges move to the center - then put hand inside the printer till you reach the right back corner - go below ink cartridge carriage rail and touch the bottom - you should feel the sensor pads there and they move a little bit even wobble some - rub the tip of your fingers over them and bring your hand out if there is a lot of black ink on your finger - clean it - i used just common ordinary facial tissue - a cue tip with rubbing alcohol might need to be used if its really dried and caked on - these sensors can go completly out and need to be replaced
- most of the time they just need cleaning
fix 2 - while you are there go ahead and remove the black cartridge and clean the tip as well
fix 3 some times the contacts need cleaning - they can get ink on them or they can corrode up as well from electrolyses - you probably need tv tuner cleaner you buy from radio shack or what ever a computer tech would recommend
after you do all of that make sure you do a print head alignment check and test - that will ensure every thing is in good working order and no more cleaning is required
most likely it is the ink sensors - fixed my brothers this morning

I had the same problem. The power button was flashing and the scanner works good.
I had to open the printer and found that inside a spring was broken. The spring operates a lever wich send a signal.
If you like to know how to open the printer let me know.
Ps. Sorry for my bad english writing

I have found out that if I give everything a good clean (dust gathers...! ;-( ) then turn the PC off, leave a few minutes then turn on again , it often solves loads of various problems !
Hope that does the trick...

SOURCE: scanner error
if you put the installation cd in the drive and then if it autostarts close it down, then go to device manager and the properties of the scanner and update driver let pc search automatically and it should reinstall it and then all should be fine i hope , had the same problem on my all in one device

I had the same problem with a new Canon MP970. Printed ok, but couldn't communicate with the scanner - error 2,155,0.
Canon phone support didn't help, and suggested it was a firewall problem. I uninstalled, and re-installed, turning off firewall, virus software, and everything. No luck. Tried several USB cables, no luck.
Then I uninstalled again - as well as a couple of old drivers and software associated with two now deceased printer/scanners.
This time I plugged the (same) USB in and turned on the device, using Windows' own hardware install wizard.
Now it works fine (at least for now... touch wood).
So - the problem might be either conflict with other printer/scanner devices installed, or with Canon's installation software.

Go to Control Panel >> Device Manager, look for the scanner in 'Device Manager' under 'Imaging Devices'
Right click on it and select 'Uninstall' and allow it to be uninstalled.
Remove the USB lead from the scanner.
Re-boot the Computer.
Once windows appears and is ready toi use, re-connect the scanner USB lead.
Windows should re-install the drivers and tell you the scanner is ready to use................hopefully!

The scanner function is not available when you are connected wireless, you must be connected via USB to your PC for the scanner to function correctly.
