Will not come on. it plays when i connect it to my computer but other than that nothing

The internal battery is likely dead. You can try leaving it connected to your computer over night to charge, if it still won't, it will need a new lithium cell. (You may or may not have the tech knowledge to work with lithium batteries and soldering irons. If not, I would suggest selling it for parts on eBay and getting a new one. It's worth more now, than if it gets totally broken. Also Lithium Polymer batteries are dangerous.

I have broke my headphone? now what can i do

depends on where it is broken and whether or not they are ear buds. ove ear headphones or even the on ear, can be easily repaired by soldering the leads back onto the respective speaker. however ear buds tend to be a bit tougher for a novice to solder. if you broke the cable off of the connector, you are better off buying a new pair of headphones modern wires used in the cables for headphones is coated with a colored (or clear, for the grounds) lacquer that is hard to clean off and still get a good connection. good luck, and i hope this helps.

Hi does anyone know where i can get a replacement battery for this, thanks joyce.

I buy my replacements form China on eBay, the battery type is the very common 18650 lithium ion rechargeable. I've had less than great results using the unprotected battery so now I'm trying the protected version. Expect to spend 3-4 dollars for the battery and about 3 dollars for delivery which can take a few weeks. The battery connection is unique to the player so you'll have to solder it to the new battery. I love these players (xclef HD-500) and they're not available anymore. I have a couple of these and would love to find some for sale.

Battery life? replace? how much?

The battery for this player lasts 1Day(mp3) and 5-7hrs(video.)
You cannot fit a replacement yourself as you will have to take the player apart. Proffessional help is advisable. A replacement battery will cost around 15$.

MP3 PLAYERS ARE MADE CHEAPLY!

I have one that had the same problem. I solder the jack back on but noticed that the solder pad came off the circuit board. Look at the circuit board and find the component where the connection from the solder pad leads. Using a piece of wire you should be able make a new connection. even after Soldering the jack back on, check to see if the pads inside the jack are bulging out enough to connect to the headphones. The constant wear and tear from rocking the headphone jack back and forth is what causes it to "brake". Could happen when its on your pocket.

Will not charge

Hi,
batterys dead, these usually last for about 12-18 months.
you can probably buy a replacement, but may have to get the shop to fit.
Due to data loss et,c.
Use it on the computer with a USB lead.

No power going into my archos 604

If the unit was dropped, you may have to replace the battery. The batteries for those units are lithium-ion-polymer and are somewhat fragile when dropped. The other possible reason it is not working is that the shock form the drop has "bricked" or killed your unit's internal circuitry. I would also try charging it with another USB connection as the USB connection you are using may not be powerful enough to charge the unit. For more detailed help you can try the forums at ArchosFans.com There are many technical experts concerning Archos Units at that forum.
