WD52527 - Device button doesn't work and causes TV to reset

Beginning yesterday, each time I try to push the device (up/down) button on the TV remote the picture begins to be "jerky" and then after about 15 seconds of this the TV resets.  Once I push the device button, the remote also quits working.  I can't even turn the TV off at that point.

There is a first step to take in the power supply. (a couple of capacitors could be dry).
The areas where this power is feed is really diverse. But as a general rule the power supply cannot be faulty if we expect all microprocessors working steady and fast.
as as second step i would think in the area related with the video processing who escalates different resolutions as you request a different source of video this requires a fastest microprocessor answer making the rot program go to this default screen when not answer is given.
As you can see this problem requires a repair level component. there is not a user's menu process to do. A visit to the work shop is needed

TV Doesn't Turn On
  • Your RCA rear projection TV may not turn on from time to time for several reasons. First, check that the power cord is plugged into a working power outlet. Check that the outlet is receiving electricity by plugging a different device into the outlet. If the other device doesn't work, you may need to replace a fuse or reset a circuit breaker in your home.

If you tried using the remote control to turn on the TV, press the "Power" button on the front of the TV. You may have a problem with the remote control if the TV turns on.

If you tried using the front control panels and haven't tried the remote, press the "Power" button on the remote control. The television controls are blocked if the TV turns on with the remote. To unlock the controls, open the "Parental Control" menu and remove the check mark next to "Front Panel Block."

Finally, your TV may be performing a diagnostic check. These checks are used to find any errors in your TV. Wait a few minutes before trying to turn on the TV again.

TV Turns Off By Itself
  • You may find that your RCA TV turns off by itself on occasion. This is often because the "Sleep Timer" feature was enabled. This feature allows you to place a timer on the television that will turn it off after a specific amount of time has passed. The feature allows you to save on your energy bill and extend the life of your television.

If the "Sleep Timer" wasn't set, the television may have detected a power surge in your home and shut off automatically to protect the components of the television. Wait at least 30 seconds before turning the TV on again.

Finally, if you suspect the television is turning off for a reason other than a power surge, unplug the television and let it sit for at least 10 minutes. This will clear any errors in the television. After 10 minutes, plug the television back into the outlet and resume normal use.

  • Blank Screen
  • A blank screen on an RCA rear projection television is usually caused by a loose connection or an incorrect setting. Check that the coaxial connection on the back of the television is secure or, if you're using an external device such as a DVD player, the video cables are secure. Press the "Ant/Cable" button to switch between tuners if you are watching television, or the "Input" button to switch between input channels if you're watching something from an external device.

With the remote press menu 2470 enter then do a system reset after the set has reinitialized this should fix your problem, you will have to reprogram your channel settings afterwards though.

Remote became unuseable. Tried system reset button numerous times. Currently unable to use front panel controls or remote to turn tv on.

Almost hate saying this but in your case it applies. Unplug the TV from power for a couple minutes and then plug it back in. Also on the remote itself make sure when you are pushing buttons the the "TV" button lights up indicating that the TV is the device being cotrolled. If that doesn't work go to the MFG's website and look for answers there 1st...hope that helps you!

T. V. stuck on one channel showing the device option.

I had same problem and discovered one of the little buttons on the front of the TV was stuck down. Don't know why, unless the maid bumped it hard as we never use them. Anyway, I poked/wiggled a few times at each button and the problem stopped.

Device Menu not working

Could have a stuck button or a corrupt e-prom, but lets try kicking this set in the head, Now these reset codes are model dependent so this code will not work for every set out there but this reset is for the WD-62525. with the set on and with the original TV remote hit the keys in this sequence, MENU-2-4-7-0 this will bring up a service menu, the cruiser should already be on "Initialize" so simply hit enter. this will reset the TV to factory defaults and may fix your problem
