Hust connect your TV to an external antenna, and set it to auto tune, and see it stores all the transmitting channels at that time, and recieving channels are clear and crisp. If it does, your TV is perfect, and the trouble is with the settop box. Either the set top box doesn't get enough signal to process or its internal digital processing stage is faulty. It should be repaired. If TV doesn't accept of the accepeted signals are weak, the tuner of the TV is faulty, and should be repaired. OK.
If you were to log on to the
manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as
usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer
Instruction Manuals, list
of Dealers for spare part supplies and
(if applicable)as required.
you have to take in affect on how old is the tv if you have had it a few years then the screen is going out and will only be a matter of time before it goes all the way out and you will be buying a new one if it not old and its one of the newer flat panels then its the signal that the tv is receiving if its hooked to a digital antena then you only get max of 720 from it on certain channels no matter if the channel or channels are showing hd with out a hd source your tv will not show better then that i have a 42 inch hd flat panel and use a antena and the best i get from my hd broadcast channels certain times will i get true hd like when the news is showing or when one of the series that was filmed in hd is on other then that i only get a 720 picture instead of a 1080 most commercals are not film in 1080 but in 720 max and i dont know why makes no since
You can go online to the digital tv website and check your area for signal strength. All you do is punch in your area code and it will tell you if your able to get any channels. In your set up screen you can run a channel scan. Most of the time you need a good digital antennea which is something they don't tell you. I purchased one for about fifty dollars and it still don't work all that great I got a very weak signal.........So Good Luck and I hope this information was helpful to you Thank You For Using Fixya.Com! If you look in the back of your manual under troubleshooting you will see this particular question addressed. In the beginning of setup you must designate wether the incoming signal is from an antenna or from cable. If you have to have a cable converter box then your TV must be on channel 3 or 4.
I have the same problem with this model as Guest, who posted on 01/03/2008: power on, red light, immediate shut-off. The sticker on the television says it was manufactured in April 2007. I think there should be a warranty on it; I suppose I'll be calling Toshiba soon if it doesn't start working. Maybe important to note for any potential buyers, as well.
