I have installed AVG Free on many computers and have not had any problems with it. It does a good job of cleaning up infected systems.

I also recommend AVAST, http://www.avast.com which is free for non-commercial, home use. You only need to register it once per year. It has a very good boot time scanner that I use to clean up systems that won't otherwise boot, or have very persistent viruses.

Yes, it is safe. I have run 2 anti-virus programs on machines with the only problem being that sometimes one program will not want you to run a second.

Another problem with doing it is that they usually take up a substantial amount of RAM memory, so running 1 is usually better than running 2, especially if you don't have a lot or RAM.

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

I M WORRIED ABOUT VIRUS. WHAT CAN I DO NOW?

If you are worried about viruses affecting your computer, I suggest you install an anti-virus program on your computer. There are commercial anti-virus programs such as Nortons and McAfee.
There are also freeware anti-virus programs on the Internet, AVG is a good program. Generally commercial programs offer better protection.
AVG also offers a commercial version of their freeware anti-virus program.
Please click on this link to download freeware AVG should you wish to use this program :-

I have something constantly poping up telling me I have a virus. It says it is Smart Engine Professional assistant for Windows PC. I don't see it in my list of programs, so I can't delete it, and I can't...

I suggest you install an anti-virus program, any viruses that infects a computer can damage your computer and programs, depending upon the type of infection.
The sooner you remove the virus the better.
There are commercial anti-virus programs available such as mcAfee and Nortons.
There are also freeware anti-virus programs, I recommend AVG.

I had problems with an extremely slow pc. I replaced mcafee with Norton 360. Norton found a few trojans, etc. All removed and i undertook a disk defragment. Then Windows xp home edition did not start in...

Both Norton and Mcafee are known for slowing pc's down.

Boot your PC as normal, but as its starting keep pressing the F8 key until some options appear on your screen. On of which will be "boot windows in safe mode".

Select that option and a windows shell should open.

Once open got to Start - Control Panel - Add/remove programmes and uninstal both mcafee and norton.

Once complete, reboot and see how you PC runs.

Assuming its working ok now, go back to your control panel - security centre - enable windows firewall.

Go online to "Filehippo.com" and download and istall the free version of AVG (anti virus software) once installed let it scan your system.

Then go back to Filehippo.com, download and install Ccleaner. This has loads of tools, :-
1) Cleaner clears all the tempory internet files of your pc.

2) Startup - you can reduce the number of programes you want th start up when booting.

You don't need any here because you can access all programmes via start but I'd leave AVG and any securtiy related to start and delete the rest. But its probably better to just disable the rest until you're happy with which programmes auto start.

Good Luck

Removal of AVG8

Try bootin to safe mode by pressing F8 on turning on the system then try to uninstall by going into the control panel [Programs(vista)/Add or Remove Programs(XP)]

By doing this you will be able to uninstall the AVG anti virus.
Then restart and the system will boot in normal mode then install Kaspersky. Never have 2 anti virus in a system. Just a word of caution.
Cheers !

Hi my name is maria leal and i'am having problems trying to activate my mcafee anti virus that came with a hp 550 laptop from your deal with 3 G hutchison uk ltd and i was wonder if you can help me

Thats True, its probably a trial, but heres some actual help.

Remove Mcaffe all together, un-install that crappy software, never think about it again. It uses way to much resources from your computer and it bugs you every mintute with something.

Heres the good part.

Go to GRISOFT.COM
in the search field at the top, do a search for AVG FREE
select the first link that says AVG FREE EDITION FOR WINXP/VISTA.

Scroll down and look to the left next to the Check marks.

Slect the download for the free version.

when the screen opens, click the download version 8.0 and when its done, install it and run the updates.

Its all easily installed and requires little on your part. Its a completely Free with no adds or junk, Anti virus.

I have used them for 8 years and have never regreated it.

They design Network Server anti Virus software but have the free version for personal computer. Its great and it runs smooth and discreet in the taskbar. Any other questions, let me know.

heres the direct link if it makes it easier.

Good luck and enjoy.
