Question about Olympus FE-230 Digital Camera

Connecting Camera to Computer

I'm a mac user and have never had a problem uploading pictures from my olympus F230 onto iphoto.  I went to upload photos and when I connected the camera it didn't automatically turn on as usual.  I then manually turned it on and it turned on, but the screen just stayed black.  I unplugged the camera from the USB and turned it on and it works fine.  I even bought a new USB thinking that it was the chord that might have been busted, but the new one has brought about the same results.  This happened out of the blue and the camera is fully charged.  Other things connected by the USB such as my printer work fine, so it's not that output.  Does anyone know what could be going on?

Camera was working fine and uploads were no problem. Then it stopped working without and error notifications.

When I plug the camera in the PC beeps and turns the camera on and I press "PC", but nothing happens after that.

The PC doesn't recognize a camera is connected, doesn't show up in Explorer, doesn't show up in "Imaging Devices", Olympus Master says that no camera is attached.

Camera and cable work fine on another PC. USB port works fine with a new mouse I bought.

Anyone have suggestions on how I can get the camera to work with this PC again? Thanks...

Could be driver issue on the computer but to check it out, plug the camera into another computer and see if you get the same thing

Olympus e500 shuts down my macbook pro

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as iPhoto.
