There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices go to Control panel, click add printer or other hardware, then click add hardware. Tried to do this a list pops up but there isn't a listing for speakers.

What operating system are you running?

  • Chris May 11, 2010

There wouldn't be a listing for speakers, you'll want to look for Multimedia Devices, but let me backtrack first.

Do you have the latest and correct driver installed? Usually when you install a driver, it take care of adding and setting up all of the neccessary devices.

Just to clarify also, is this the correct model of your motherboard : D945GPM ?

If the volume control is all grayed out, locked like you said then your sound driver is missing or corrupt. You will need to re-install the sound driver.

Sound is not maximum it give very low voice

Assuming that the device sound components are not malfucntioning only requires alteration of some buttons either to increase or decrease. Usually on the computer, the program from which the media is being played for example windows media player should provide the volume scroll buttons observable at the buttom of the screen for regulations. Also, asume that the windows media player volume is at maximum. The computer has a volume button that controls the entire sound from the speakers. Use the mouse to locate at the button right hand corner of screen the volume logo. Pointin the mouse arrow on the logo should receive a popup message requesting incrementation or reduction in volume controls of media being played. Increasing the computer button would produce much sound. However also, the computer speakers capacity should allow much sound. An external speaker connected to the computer may have adjsutable sound buttons that unless increased however would produce least sound. Observe an external speakers connected to the computer to see if volume bottons have be minimised.

dirty switch. I took my 2009m apart and cleaned the switches with alcohol on a qtip and the problem's gone. Not too hard to do. Leverage the case gently with a putty knife or something and it will pop open. Then pop around the edge to remove the back completely.

Hello....No Sound, No Volume Control, Mixer not Found, No Sound device installed…etc etc, This is a generic issue with Windows OS....many of the users are facing this issue....
1 - r u facing NO Audio/Sound issue...?
2 - is ur Volume Control not responding ?
3 - is ur Sound and Audio Device in Control Panel Grayed out ?
4 - Do u get a msg "No Active Mixer Devices Installed....when u try to open Volume Ctrl etc etc ?

if ur ans to any one of them is Yes...then u are being spammed by Microsoft....ur Sound Control IRQ is being frozen by a recent update from Microsoft....NOTE..VERY..IMPORTANT...no file update or any sound driver update can fix it, neither Microsoft is issuing any patch to fix it….

Full solution is available in my website (Support page)...it's quite simple process to fix it, and I am not charging any money, just trying to do some service.

You just need to reinstall the audio drivers for your soundcard.
If you provide the model number for your motherboard I can help you locate them. Installing is very easy after that, Just run a setup program.

The motherboards model number will be printed on the board in failrly large letters and numbers. You may have to move a few things out of the way to find it though.
If your not comfortable opening the side of your computer then download CPU-Z unzip it and install it. It will give you the information needed without having ot open your computer.
