Ink system failure

Getting a error 0xc18a101 Ink System Failure - error code 0xc18a0101

THANK YOU!!! I tried more than several solution tips and nothing worked. This one did!

It's not even the same model as the one listed, but I followed Steps 1 and 2 - every step of instruction was just as described - and I've got my printer back! Thanks again!exact same problem. I've tried to replace the yellow ink cartridge three times now (not so bright, I know but it seems cheaper than buying another $300.00 plus printer). I've cleaned, tried the reset the error messages, and nothing. I even spoke with some technical support guy overseas (no offense to him) and it's frustrating. I see folks with the same problem, but no solutions.... anyone? Or are we all shopping for a different brand? If so, wha't good?

The display states to replace the "empty" yellow ink cartridge. It also says it cannot print until that's done... it does give me the option to print in black and white. I have replaced the ink, cleaned, etc. nothing is working. I even tried to update the firmware...

I tried to re-set (6 and #) and it reset, but still have the ink error.

  • Joanne Ferguson Feb 06, 2009

To local wonder..... I appreciate your honesty.... but out of despiration, is there ANYTHING else I can try, maybe, huh?

  • Joanne Ferguson Feb 06, 2009

I am afraid that the solution posted is correct, that I must replace the printer but if there is one more thing I could try.......

  • Joanne Ferguson Feb 06, 2009

    That didn't work either.

  • Joanne Ferguson Feb 06, 2009

    That din't work.

  • Joanne Ferguson Feb 06, 2009

Nope..... I should get on Consumer reports and look for good deals, or are there any other solutions out there?

  • Joanne Ferguson Feb 06, 2009

Thanks to everyone. This is a great service and well worth the cost. I'm sure I'll be back. Joanne

A good series of printers is the Dell All-In-One printers. A lot for little. Price range from 60 to around 300. Really durable as well.

The main board is locked. this can only be reset by the manufacture. i would suggest buying another printer. this repair could cost way more than a new unit.

connect it to a wall socket, turn it on, pull the
power cord, hold down # + 9, connect the power cord, wait 3 secs or the
    "Initializing Full Reset" appears then
release the buttons. If the multifunction shuts itself down, turn it on to select the language, align the printer cartridges.

This is an Ink System Failure message. I would try this guide. 'Ink System Failure' or a '0x...' or a 'C2...' Error Message Displays on the Front Panel. To help resolve the issue.
If that doesn't work, please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/hpsupport/index.pl.

Its tricky mechanism, once printer detects ink system failed it cannot be resetted. Do this take out cartridges from printer., open right cover., find out logic card., remove cmos battery., wait for 5 minutes., refix batyery., power on the printer., follow the screen messges ... I hope it will solve the issue..
