If the phone is not 3 or 4 band gsm it will not work the US, the EU and Asia all use 2 bands each. Look up the documentation that came with the phone to find out the radio frequencies supported by the device, and look up here for info on which frequencies are supported in different countries

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSM_frequency_ranges

Hope this will help

Frequencies cannot be changed, The only way out of it is to buy a model designed for the US of A. The frequencies are governed by hardware soldered to the mainboard of the phone. It is a similar concept to the difference in the FM radio band between the US and Europe using 88-108Mhz while japan uses 85-105.

If you can make and receive calls on it you should not have an issue with bands, If this is the case, refer to your network customer support and ask them for specific access point info such as requirered IP address, username and password as it is unlikely that there is an automatic setup program as the handset was manufactured out of the country.

How to attach my mobile phone to system for internet

This is very simple, make sure that you have installed HTC Sync on your computer, and that you have turned on your phone's data connection (such as 3G)

  1. Connect the phone to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. When the Select default type dialog box appears, select Mobile network sharing, and then tap Done.

s_mobile_network_sharing.png Mobile network sharing is enabled and the Mobile network sharing icon appears on the left side of the Notifications panel.

You can now access the Internet on your computer. While using your phone as a modem, you will not be able to access the phone's storage card or synchronize your phone.
To Turn it Off

  1. Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > Wireless controls.
  2. Clear the Mobile network sharing check box.
Reply back if it works. I am damn sure this shud work.

Does't connect to network - search Network

Hi
It sounds like you may have a poor 3G reception in your area. Even though other O2 phones are working better they may be running on the 2G masts in your area.
Try in setting/network menu turning off 3G reception, that way the device will only look for 2G masts. Your handset will give priority to 3G masts where available and sometimes will hold onto the weakest signal making poor call quality, and or dropping connection.
Advantages to using 2G only = better standby and talk time / better reception where 3G is poor.
Disadvantages = Slower web browsing / no video calls.

WEP / WPA will only apply if you are connecting using WI FI and have nothing to do with your mobile network connection.
Hope that helps?

Windows/xp driver for pantech duo

Install the latest Duo software load, from:
http://www.pantechusa.com/html/images/software/download.htm

If you still have ActiveSync problems, try:
1) install activesync software
2) On the phone, go to Settings > Connections > Modem Link > then set the modem link status to INACTIVE.
3) On the phone, go to Settings > Connections > USB to PC > then select Enable advanced network functionality.
4) plug the phone in via USB to PC... the sync software will recognize the phone automatically when connected, and windows will not ask for driver install.
