Most likely the platen is not fully seated, push down firmly on both ends of platen (black rubber roll).

Please help i have urgent work to type but my IBM Wheelwriter3500 by LEXMARK is typing half characters

Half characters? Top or bottom? Please remove the ribbon and reinstall it. Likely it got folded. Make sure as well that the correction tape is properly seated. Otherwise it can get in the way. Unless it is a multistrike, you should see the characters imprinted on it. Just like Columbo when he solved another ****. Good luck.

No characters appear when typed , I have changed the ribbon and there is still no character showing.

You probably have a broken print solenoid cap. We sell a replacement for 20.00 includes shipping and instructions.

The platen probably worked itself out press firmly down on both ends of the platen it slould click into place. If it won't stay you will need a platen.

Typing characters that are not intended

Try these troubleshooting suggestions for your problem:

Wrong Characters Print or Characters Space Incorrectly:

1. Turn the typewriter off, wait 30 seconds, then turn the typewriter
on again and try typing again.
2. Make sure the LANG indicator is off.
3. Try a new printwheel.
4. Look for objects In the path of the carrier.
5. Make sure the printwheel is changed when there is a language
change.
6. If you are playing back, make sure you use the same pitch
printwheel you used when you typed the text.

Wheelwriter II characters above the numbers print incorrect.

You may have an unusual printwheel that has special char. on the P/W, or you may be in the language mode hold code and press "L" key.

Only part of the character/letter is showing

make sure the ribbon is latched into place (should lock down) also check on the ribbon itself to make sure the print is in the middle of the ribbon and not on the very bottom, if the ribbon is locked down and types of the bottom of the ribbon, it is out of adjustment. if the ribbon looks ok, move the paper scale (the plastic piece on top of the platen) up out of the way, then push down sharply on the platen. if it moves down and clickes into place, it should work OK.

IBM Wheelwriter 3 typing incorrect characters

If you have another printwheel try that, if you still have the trouble try blowing out the area where it is in stalled. If that fails turn the machine off then back on, after it completes the POR mark the printwheel with some white out, repeat the POR see if the mark is in the same place, if it isin't you probably have a selection plate problem.

IBM Wheelwriter 6 prints only top portion of characters

The platen is probably not all the way in. Be sure the black latches are lined up with the side frames and press firmly down on the platen.

hope this helps
