Question about Dell Vostro 1700 Notebook

New browser windows open to the right of the previous one.

How can I get new windows to open at the left side of the screen? I have XP Home, IE7, when I click the shortcut icon for IE next to the Start button, each new window opens a little to the right of the previous one and I have to slide it to the left so I can see Task Manager, on the right of my wide screen.

How can I pin the new window to the left edge of the screen?

Thanks, I use Tabs now, but I still want the new windows pinned to the left side.

I usually have 5 or 6 windows open, with several Tabs in each window

Instead of opening a new IE browser for each site, try using the Tabs at the top (blank square next to the Website title). (see below)
You can also Right-Click on links on web pages and select "Open Link in New Tab". This should also help your computer run better as opening new browser windows uses more memory.

I need to change my internet explorer 8 to internet explorer 7 & i have windows vista

Hi,
Click on the start menu (orb), go to the Control Panel and select Programs & Features. From the list of installed software locate IE8 and uninstall it.

Restart your computer and download IE7 from here (its say's it's for XP, just ignore that it will work on Vista)

How can I get new windows to open at the left side of the screen?

This is the default behavior for windows when opening a new window when another instance of the application is already running (if multiple instances are allowd to run). I have never seen any kind of information or registry hacks that can override this behavior. If you are just looking at keeping Task Manager visible, you can always use the Options menu in Task Manager and check the Always on Top option. Any new windows opened will appear under the Task Manager.

Validate my xp

do you have a valid copy of xp, or not? If not, then forget it. If so, then do the validation, with windows update. The days of operating with impunity are over, from what I know of the new 'keying' strategy from MSoft.

got backup?
