Question about GE A730 Digital Camera
I have a GE A830. Iturn it on and it goes right back off, new batteries , same thing. It will stay on in the PLAYBACK mode and display pictures!
This is an issue with GE digital cameras 730, 735, 830, and 835. It is just a matter of a firmware upgrade. It is truly annoying to many people and not everybody knows about the upgrade. It is a pain in the ****...just the same...it works.
Try going to http://www.general-imaging.com/us/firmware.html
Once you get there look to the left of the screen to find the blue box that says Quick Links and then click on Firmware Upgrades and then look for the upgrade relating to your camera and follow the directions to the dime and you will have a working camera that doesn't shut off every couple of minutes. I hope this helps you.

DaddyCass, I'd like to recommend to you that you put in new, not bought recently, or just charged, but new "Alkaline" batteries - don't skimp out on the black Eveready or the red ones (Energiser and Duracell are good).
Do this to be sure, because it really sounds like a power problem, and if you are using rechargables, you're rechargeables may be on the way out, supplying enough power to run low-powered items, but not enough for a high-load item like a digital camera.
Try this and let us know what eventuates.
