Question about Dell E196FP 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

E196FPf says that it is E176FP monitor - image is washed out

Recently the E196FPf monitor all of a sudden went bleached out --- can't see lines on spreadsheet.  The firmware thinks the monitor is E176FP.  Flashed solid yellow, solid red, solid blue, solid black.  Auto Adjust passes by proper setting and ends on washed out setting.

I have this GREEN LINE vertically on my DELL LCD MONITOR E176FP 17

c5e83efa-55e9-4b06-8023-89ff1e5850bd.pngDoes it look anything like this? I'm no computer guy at all, but I had that issue with my Dell laptop and the line disappeared completely. How? After watching that bright green line getting Ionger and longer every day I stopped using my laptop for one whole week due to the holidays. After that first week I turned it on to check some random file and to my surprise, the line was a lot smaller and disperse. I had this 2 week long trip the following week so I decided leaving my laptop at home to see if the line kept getting smaller. When I got home from my trip I turned on my laptop hoping the line were actually reduced, and it was completely gone, completely and absolutely gone. I would recommend you to stop using your lptop for 3 weeks or so. Good luck

All of a sudden the images displayed in my web browser went from looking great to pixelated, washed out. It's the same thing regardless of browsers. Firefox, IE, Opera. Images saved on my hard drive...

Uninstall any toolbars you have recently installed and see.

Uninstall any program you have installed that claims to speed up your browsers/internet. If you do have such a program, check its options or settings for a clue.

E176FP 17" LCD Monitor: my computer will come on but the monitor won't...

Here is what you need to do to know if your monitor is defective. Plug the power cord of the monitor. Turn on the monitor. If the monitor display image for a second and then black out then the monitor is OK. If not you will need to replace it.
If the monitor is OK.. look for other possible problem. Next to it aside from checking the cable (connecting your video card to the monitor) the one to check is the video card.. the signal from the cpu will pass through the video card to your monitor. If no reaction to the monitor then its the video card.

Problem with Dell E176FP monitor brighness

I do not like to mark this kind oif advice with "solution" but really, the monitor has developed an internal fault with the electronics and cannot be fixed by the average person, if at all.
If I had it, I would disassemble it and check the electrical commections around the back light, taking particular attention to the areas around the edges in case there has been any spill over the time, where something might have gotten in around the edge of the "glass".
But, it looks to me like you are going to be up for a new monitor. I hope I am wrong and you have some luck with it.

generally dell monitors open from the bottom they have slight indented flat spaces for a small flat head screw driver to twist and pop the frame apart I start on the bottom left and work my way right and then open the sides carefully and last the top.
