Question about Pioneer VSX-D608 Receiver

No audio output from Pioneer VSX-D608 Receiver

My Pioneer VSX-D608 only has audible clicks through the speakers (A,B, Center and Surround) when provided with a source such as CD Player, Tuner, etc. I've checked all the fuses and am ready to bring it in to get get checkd out. Any help is greatly appreciated. I just purchased this Pioneer VSX-D608 Receiver. I have hooked up everything properly. I have 2, 6 ohm speakers that I hooked up. First I hooked them into surround speakers but got no sound, then I hooked them up to speakers A-B, still no sound. I hooked up a dual cassette deck into "Tape 1", selected "Tape 1"...no sound. I've tried the tuner, T.V., everything, but nothing seems to get sound.

My turntable won't work with the pioneer vsx-d608

Your old-school un-preamplified turntable requires an outboard Phono Preamp (*) to PRE-amplify and RIAA-equalize the tiny voltage signal produced by the phono cartridge. It will not work on any Line Level input like Aux or CD. What you will hear is a useless, barely audible, tinny playback.

Center Channel not working on pioneer vsx-d608

Be sure the sound source has a center channel output ie. not a 2 channel source only, try the test tone setup for 5 or 6 channel balance, if no sound from the center channel still then it is looking like maybe the center channel is blown.

Pioneer VSX-D608 Optical connection

The manual states that the default association of each digital input in as follows:
  • Optical 1: CD
  • Optical 2: MD
  • Optical 3: TV
  • Coax: DVD
Use the "Signal select" button to set the receiver to use a digital input, and the Dolby/DTS button (above "Signal select") to enable decoding.

As samz11 stated above, a remote is required to alter the digital input mapping.

I turn on receiver Pioneer vsx d608, then few seconds later screen flashes "poweroff", then shuts off by itself

Check all speaker wiring for shorts. If nothing is found, unit obviously has circuit problems, have serviced.

Low Audio Level

When I had problems with my VSX-D608, I resorted to downloading the manual for VSX21. This model seems to have the same features in the ELITE form. It has helped me figure out some speaker problems.
