Picture is split top/bottom. Top is randomly grouped verticle lines (maybe 3 or 4 pixels wide) of various colors. Bottom is other half of televised picture but with some discoloration of color towards the upper part of that half and some loss of resolution. Happens on all formats. Sound works.

You will need to replace the Y Buffer boards. If you are looking at the back of the set, the Y-main is to the left. Connected to this board are the upper and lower buffer boards.
They control the top half and bottom half of your picture.
Replace those, and you should be fine.
Please note that it is possible for the Y-Main and/or the Panel itself have caused these boards to fail. Replacing the Y-Main might be within a reasonable cost, but replacing the panel is not worth the cost.
