HPoffice jet L7780 says printhead has problems, cant print anythi

My printer says printhead has a problems with KY(blk/yellow) I tried cleaning them as instructed, the printer is less than 1yr. and none of the bottons ie menu etc even work I called the PC store and he said to clean it and usually the print head never has to be changed this early HELP!!

    printhead has problems. I tried clning them as the instructions says and it does not work. This is the second time this junk is giving me a problem. The last time I called Hp, it was a waste of my time because they could not help me.

    I had the same problem. I bought a new printhead cartridge and installed it and got the same message. I called HP and spoke with support at 1 800 474 6836. After 2.5 painful hours of troubleshooting with no luck they shipped out a new one. All HP printers have a 1 year warrenty on parts and labor.

Clogged Inkjets? Could they be white Lines in your prints? Assuming your inkjet printer worked OK before a period of non use? And you do not have any strange flashing lights, or an obvious electrical fault or malfunction?

Then most about 98% are more likely to be an ink clog which just needs to be unclogged using something like WARMED Magic Inkjet Flush
Basically, if a print head has been left unused for some time... moisture inside the ink begins to evaporate and instead of liquid ink, a thick inky jelly begins to form inside the print head.

When this occurs white lines appear in prints and most people not realising the problem, will replace their inks... But when that does not work. Some assume they have an electrical fault, and replace their print head, others will replace their printer !

But provided there is no obvious print head damage? In 98% of cases it simply needs a little patience and WARMED Magic Inkjet Flush injecting directly into the print head to dissolve the dried ink trapped inside. This will dissolve the clog and allow your expensive ink to flow once again. Most will then print as new.

If reprinting did not help, try increasing the print quality mode.

The printer prints an alignment page. The lines in the patterns should appear to be straight. Click OK when the page finishes printing.

Click Calibrate Advanced Linefeed. The Advanced Linefeed Calibration window opens. Click OK .

I have had this happen a couple of times and have cured it easily. It has only happened with the black with me. It seems to be caused by air in the ink feed line. With the printer switched on open the top cover and hold the resume button for 5 seconds. The printheads should move to the left and you may be able to see air in the pipe(s). Remove the printhead of the offending colour(s) then insert a syringe with the plunger fully down into the rubber that the printhead connects to. Draw up the syringe plunger to draw ink/air through until you can see no more air in the pipe. Replace the printhead and close the cover. The printer should now do a calibration with the offending colour hopefully now working.

SOURCE: HP k5400 KY printhead always reports bad on Monday morning

Remove the Printhead and clean the contacts on the back of the printhead and also in the where the printhead mounts.
Try leaving the printer turned on over the weekend as the fault maybe caused by the ink drying out.

Try reset your printer by following this procedure to reset it,

1. Without turning the unit off, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
2. Press and hold # and 6 keys.
3. While holding those keys plug the power cord back in.
4. Wait until the screen goes blank before you release those keys.
5. Follow on printer screen instructions.This should fix the problem.

The following printhead has a problem black/yellow the printer will not print. These are new ink cartiladge

In the HP OfficeJet Pro L7780 the printheads are actually separate from the ink cartridges. In your case, it sounds like the black/yellow head has worn out and will need to be replaced. The good news is, this is a user replaceable part. The bad news is, the replacement heads are not cheap. Amazon has the HP 88 Black/Yellow printhead listed currently for about $61.

HP Officejet Pro K550 - Printhead Error Message on new printhead - cleaned printhead, contacts... tried all fixes... what now? Is it faulty?


I have the same problem. I replaced both printhead cartidges. The MC light stopped blinking, but the KY light kept blinking. I thought it was a faulty new KY ink cartridge. So I returned that cartridge and got a new one. Still the same issue. I called hp and they said the print head is bad now and all they focused on was trying to sell me a new printer. UG! I also heard wiping off the printhead with a dry cloth may help. Did you get yours to wokr?

Magenta and cyan will not print on my hp officejet pro L7590 -- it started with a paper jam that was corrected - ever since then only the yellow and black will print on the paper -- printheads are good and...


Same thing happened to my printer hp L7590. Printed diagnostic, only black and yellow printed; diagnostic for printhead health Ky=good, MC= good. Only Hp products ever used. Uplugged, & discharged static, cleaned copper parts of printhead. Still no fix. On visual examination of floor of printhead compartment rectangular pad ( approx 1/4" by 1/2") is missing. I can only guess that during the paper jam, somehow the pad got caught up and went awol. Not sure what to do now.

On my Test Pattern 2 the blue/light blue and green/yeallow have steeks in it. The documents that I print have streaks going across the page. I've cleaned everythign I can clean. The printer has 6,251...

I have three HP L7780 printers that have bad print heads black/yellow. replaced but same problem. ?????


take out printheads. unplugg power cable from back press adn hold down 6 and # buttons on pritner at same time while holding them down plugg it back in. then insert printheads one by one. first insert black/yellow shutt the door adn check for message on pritner screen. if it says printhead missing cyan/megenta it means it detected black/yellow printhead. do same with cyan/megenta adn check for message on screen. if you see no error mesage and both printheads were detected fine let the printheads alligned completely. then if u see same issue it is the pritner whgich need to be replaced.

L7780...had problems printing, took out the printhead to look at but now the printer says the printhead has a problem, help!!


check the lids from the printhead to the logic board. remove the ink and examine the nostril u could clean it with clean cloth soak in water. then if it persist replacement is best option
