Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5100 All-In-One Printer

Printer Problem on Multiple Printers: As if low ink on both

My Kokak 5100 All in One suddenly began printing as if there were no ink in the cartridges. I knew the color cartridge was just about out, so I changed it. That didn't work.

So I cleaned and calibrated. That didn't work.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the software and firmware. That didn't work.

So I hooked up an HP Deskjet 930c (old) and tried printing to that. Suddenly, a printer that once worked fine was printing as if it had low or no ink in both B&W and color cartridges. Just like the Kodak.

So I tried troubleshooting, cleaning, calibrating, reinstalling, etc. Nothing works.

Why would two different printers suddenly manifest the same problem? I've been through their properties and everything is set up correctly.

My only clue: I went to the Coricidin website to print a coupon, and that's when it startted. Has something attacked my PC?

I have the same problems, I have bought new ink two times, cleaned the printing head 6 times, still not printing right.

Kodak has sent out a new printhead to me, free of charge. This must be very common is they are just sending out free printheads willy-nilly.

My Kodak Easyshare 5100 just stopped printing too, but I already replaced the print head once. Do I need another one?

Thanks, I did order a new printhead, but I also used a small pump with a drop of water to open the printhead up.

    Thanks for the information!

Bought my first Kodak all in one printer in 2009. Same issues. Sent free printhead twice. Then a replacement "refurbished" printer. Same problems after several months. Sent me a new replacement printer. Same problems after six months. Now after contacting Kodak am told I can purchase a new printhead for thirty some dollars plus shipping or can have a coupon for 40% off a new Kodak printer. Gotta be kidding. I wouldn't take a fourth Kodak printer if they gave it to me (they're not offering to). The printhead is definitely a problem and eats a lot of ink.

The printhead has dried out and you need to contact kodak to get a replacement, they may do this under warranty. The same thing has happened twice now with my AIO 5500, I guess the problem is if you don't print very often, the ink dries out in the printhead itself, not the cartridges.

Hello, I have a Canon Pixma MX860 all in one copier printer that just began to display error #5100. All the ink cartridges are full. How do I reset the printer so that this error will not be displayed...

Turn off printer.
Remove both the cartridges from the printer. Use a clothe moistened with alcohol to clean the surface contact on the cartridges where the terminals inside the printers touches.
Return the cartridges and turn on the printer.

Error 5100 means that the cartridge can not be detected by the printer.

Hope it helps1

Flashing red "check ink" lights and nothing is wrong with ink

Is there a resume button on the printer? If so press this, often printers will allow you to bypass a low ink message and print for a while longer.

Printer will print pictures, but won't print documents.

Sometimes this happens because the ink dries in the print head. If multiple cleaning doesn't improve it you can try cleaning the print head itself with alcohol or an electronic spay can type cleaner. This should fix the problem for you. Also resetting the cartridges in the slots sometimes improves the ink flow.

Kodak 5100 black will not print

In the UK call 0870 2430270

Tell them, because they will ask you to:

You have removed and reseated Black Cartridge

Carried Out Printhead Cleaning

Carried Out Calibration Test, and Black is missing

Did a Test Print (Press Photo & Copy together) and NO BLACK

and they will send a New Print Cradle overnight.

I also complained about wasting ink on multiple tests and got a new pack of ink as well.

Bought new ink but photos arent printing.

It is more than likely the print head itself. It seems to be a problem with these printers.
