SOURCE: Bottom (bobbin thread) makes loops

I don't have the same brand as yours, but on my machine there is a little screw on the bobbin case that you tighten to increase the bobbin tension. If you've got one, turn it 1/8 to 1/4 turn at a time.

SOURCE: thread or bobbin tension

Thread tension. Beware of adjusting the bobbin screw. Pfaffs maintain their tensions just fine without adjusting the bobbin tension, unless you're using some crazy thick or fine thread. If you must change your bobbin tension, you would be well-advised to buy an extra bobbin case, because re-calibrating your tensions after changing them can be less than fun.

Increase your top tension, and your looping should cease. I normally keep my tension around 4.5. Also make sure you're using a good quality thread, and that there's nothing in the upper tension assemblies. Sometimes a tiny piece of debris can keep the top tension from applying enough tension, so turning the machine off and blowing some canned air in there can help as well.

Good luck,

-R

Y bobbin keeps bunching up when trying to stitch

Suggest you use a contrasting thread color on top to be sure it is bobbin thread nesting.

If it is bobbin thread nesting, the most common cause is bobbin tension. Be sure bobbin thread has not escaped the bobbin tension spring. Be sure to follow machine instructions for winding and loading bobbin.

See following video on testing tension.

My pfaff 6122 got knotted in the bobbin and now my needle wont move? HELP the wheel seems locked and when i move it it jumps into place and locks

I'd guess there's still thread in the hook. Try removing bobbin and case and clean area per machine instruction.

My Janome 8050 bobbin case is jumping out of place. The thread is wrapping around the bobbin case and getting stuck, bunching up, and shutting down my sewing progress. It ties the needle up.

check for the retainer action of the bobbin case to see in there is a part broken off that holds the bobbin in the case or carrier
from what you describe , with the thread bunching up etc, I suspect that the needle thread tension is too loose and causing the problems
if so then the bunching and problems can be from the bunched thread pushing the bobbin out of position
take it in for a service and if necessary , repair

My Pfaff grand quilter 1200 keeps bunching up the top thread on the bottom side of my quilts. I've replace the needle and thread. It won't pick up the bobbin thread. Could this be a timing problem?

Remove the thread from the machine. (Always raise the presser foot and pull the thread up, NEVER down!).
Install a brand new needle.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading.
Rethread from the beginning and verify the thread pathway is correct.
Set the upper tension to midway between High & Low numbers--you may need to tweak this for your particular machine, but this is a standard starting point.
Confirm the bobbin is loaded and threaded correctly in the bobbin case.
Begin sewing slowly. It helps if you begin sewing with the needle in the uppermost position.
Test on medium weight woven cotton.

If it is still not picking up the bobbin thread, then it most likely is a timing problem. You can search the internet for web sites and videos regarding sewing machine timing or take it for service.

My Pfaff Expression 2034 sewing machine is suddenly making an almighty mangled mess at the bottom - it doesn't matter how I re-set the tensions. What can be the problem?

Be sure to use a brand new needle.

Remove the upper thread and bobbin. Reinstall the bobbin making sure it is turning the correct direction and threaded properly in the bobbin case.

RAISE the presser foot and rethread the top thread. Confirm the thread pathway is correct.

Most often, knots (thread nests) occur under the fabric because the machine is misthreaded or the thread is not seated completely in the tension disk.

Thread bunches up when replacing thread on bobbin

If the thread is bunching or tangling when winding a bobbin, check that you have properly threaded the winder. Especially make sure you are running the thread through the bobbin tension assembly.
