Just received the typewriter and there is a spring that was not attached to anything. Paper will not feed correctly. The lever to loosen or tighten it does not do anything.

It is probably the paper release lever spring (gives tension to the rollers to hold the paper in place).

It attaches to the lever and then to the frame...the plastic hook on the frame is most likely broken...

If you are handy and can take the top of the machine cover off, you can drill a small hole in the frame and hook the spring in there...(have done this in the past when I was repairing typewriters for a living..lol)

Where is the lever that releases the carriage on the olivetti 32

There is a chrome lever on the right side of the carriage on top that should manually release the carriage by pushing down on it. If this works but there is no spring tension pulling the carriage to the left, then the drawband is probably broken. If pushing the lever down doesn't work then eithor the mechanism is broken or locked up or there is a carriage lock that need to be released. If there is a carriage lock it would be located under the carriage on the left or right side. It would be a small chrome lever sticking out the side.

How to get rid of wheel release

Remove ribbon, pull the lever at the R. side towards you, lift out the P/W, check for bent or broken spokes, check P/W area for debris. Try it without the ribbon and correction tape.

Imb selectric iii, page will not advance.

If it dosen't feed by knob or return the release lever on the top R. of the T/W is probably forward, if it feeds by hand and not by index or return you probably have a broken or unhooked index link.

I cannot remove the typing element on am IBM Selectric II typewri

Once the lever is broken you must either find a way to spread the spring that holds it on apart (not easy) or take a razor blade and slide it under the black plastic cap and cut it off.

Wheelwriter 10 typewriter...typing thick file folders

There is no adjustment on Wheelwriters for thickness. Try pulling the release lever (top right) forward then putting the folder in then push the release lever back.
