Question about Relisys RLT1720 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Laptop will not start

I have a dell Inspiron 5150 laptop which is obviously old but nevertheless has a reasonably good spec. My problem is that it will not start! After the dell loading screen the computer beeps twice and shows the screen "primary hard disk not found' No bootable devices--strike F1 to reboot or F2 for setup utility.
This sounds obvioulsy to me that the hard drive has failed and needs replacing however I have a number of times been able to still get windows started by pressing F12 while the DELL screen loads and pressing something there (cant remember what!)
Now however I seem unable to do this - I can get it to the windows loading screen but then the screen goes blank after a minute while the 'working' LED continues to flash - I cant get any further.
As I said before - Im not a computer whizz at all but it sounds like it just not recognising a hard drive? What I dont understand is why I have managed to loads windows before while this problem has existed (even though it took about 1/2 to fully load and become functional and indeed was EXTREMELY slow when this happened!) and why now I cannot make this happen?
Although I have recently bought another laptop I am still very keen to get this in good working order as the spec is respectable at a dual core 3.6 processor with 2 gig of RAM and I was hoping to maybe use it as the centre of a home network but do not wish to be investing a lot of money....
Im sorry about the rambling but wanted to be thorough in my description.
PLEASE HELP!!
Many thanks

You should be able to run the Hard Drive Diagnostics, (CNTL+ALT+D at Dell Screen) ee if you get a failure code

You may be able to boot to the safe mode by booting to F8 menu

Replace the HDD is likely result

What you have is a cracked screen. The LCD panel is cracked and is leaking fluids to the rest of your screen, those dots will spread too. This happens when u pick up the computer from the screen. You could try finding a replacement laptop screen, or get a new computer. They aren't that expensive. Make sure you save your hard drive tho!

You may have bad cable between the main board and the LCD panel, you can try reseating the connector on the back of the LCD panel first to see if it helps, worst case will be the new LCD panel needed. Try do some reading here: www.insidemylaptop.com

I think my monitor and/or driver /cable is causing a blue screen error on my dell inspiron laptop???? is there a driver update or something else i can do to update my monitor?

blue screen error is not there because of monitor's driver

7 year old Dell Inspiron 4150 has black screen. If I plug old crt monitor to serial port I get picture there fine. Computer is fine but monitor shot? Do I need a new LCD? Can I get one for $100 or less?

This is a common problem, I don't think the LCD per say is bad. The backlight tube may be bad or the power inverter that powers it may be bad. GO to support.dell.com and search for these parts, get them both and replace them both. It is tricky as you must dissasemble your laptop lid panel.

My monitor works with my old computer but not with my new one

Hi,
Does your computer have a video card? If not, have one, and installed the driver. If you have a video card, try the onbaord video, but removed first the video card, before trying the on board.

Moving Horizontal Lines on LCD Computer Monitor (Windows XP2)

Hi,

It is possible that what you are seeing is 60 cycles AC hum, but then again it may not.

Perhaps you can try increasing your Screen Refresh Rate to any other setting other than 60 Hertz. (Display Properties/Settings/ Advanced/Monitor)

If that does not work, you may need to check your wirings and/or the power supply of the monitor with particular attention to the filter/power capacitor.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
