I have a Sanyo 46" DS35510 television (tube style, not flat screen) but dont' have a remote for it. Our universal remote control provided by Comcast doesn't seem to work for it. I'd like to get a new remote, but I don't know what kind to get that will work with this model. Since the Comcast universal remote doesn't work, I'm hesitant to just go out and buy one. Can you help?

Most universal remotes don't have all the functions of the original remote controls. You may be out of luck unless you can find an original remote. There are web sites that sell original remotes. Just Google TV parts stores.
You need to change the input source to TV. You can do this with the original remote by pressing Input. (Unless the unit is in VCR mode then press TV and then Input). There is no Input button on this TV as far as I know.
If you do not have the original remote, you need a remote that matches this function. An exact replacement remote is available here: http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Search&o=c&uid=0&m=DS35510&uuid=12925568663700 . Some universal remotes will have this feature but usually not the cheapest ones. Make sure the universal remote was programmed at least 6 months after the TV was released. The exception: the universal remotes that can be programmed via a USB connection to your computer.
replacement sanyo gxba remotes start at $25 at bestbuy, RCA universal remote controls that include the sanyo codes start at $9.99 at CanadianTire, and must be available at the equivalent stores in your region
Please be informed that the codes vary with different make and model of the universal remote that you have. If none of the codes above work, please post back with make and model of your universal remote included.
To get rid of the white lines look at the place where you turned the control. It should be called the screen control, turn down the screen control counterclockwise till the white lines just go away. If the picture is still dark, you will need to have this set serviced as there is a problem in the crt driver board, or the power supply board. good Luck
