Ok that works for all of a matter of 2 seconds haha! Basically the temperature isnt working... its stuck on 85 degrees.

  • Scott Burns Feb 06, 2009

Ok thanks for your help. Im just in wondering if i have knocked something inside or have caused something to break, cause this never did this before. As soon as ive turned it on from being cold it says 85 degrees. So i would say heat sensor could be faulty maybe?

    You Must Be Overheating..

You Heatsink Fins are Probably Blocked.. Dust and Debris Buildup in the fan area will eventually create a "strip" of lint that completely covers the Fan Exaust Port, When this happens, air can not escape and therefor it is forced into the motherboard area and anywhere else there is a space for the air to go... this heats up the RAM, The Video GPU, and Processor, and Overheating can happen the second the laptop is turned on - if dirty enough.

If Dust and Clogged Fan Is Not the problem... Then Your Thermal Controller Either Onboard Or The Fans Thermal Controller is faulty..

( Dell xps m1530 laptop ) Monitor blank, powers up but screen won't come on.

It ISN'T the LCD screen. Since you diagnosed with an external VGA monitor, you now know the problem is the laptop.

(When you connect an external VGA monitor to a laptop, you are bypassing the Video Cable, and LCD screen. You are connected directly to the laptop )

The basic Windows files aren't being found. The boot files. This may mean a bad Harddrive.

Do you have the Restoration CD Disk? Laptop on insert it into the optical drive tray, close the tray.
When asked choose - Repair. (Non-Destructive Installation)

If a checkdisk is done, you have bad sectors on the harddrive.
There IS a special procedure in replacing a harddrive.

My dell latitude c510/c610 failing

Sounds like the fan may be failing and need replacement. On a system that age, it is debatable whether it is worth fixing.
You can boot to he resource cd and run fan diags is you want to try and confirm

Fans can be found on EBay

My dell C610 Screen does not come back on when i reopen the lid. I turn the computer on use it then close the lid for about a min then reopen it and the screen just stays off but the computer itself is...

Known issue. The windows default settings for power saving mode tell the computer to switch it off (sleep) when the lid is closed. The sleep mode doesn't turn completely the computer, just the visualization devices (mainly screen, also some other components not required for the computer).
What I would advise you to do after restarting the computer (press on the power button for a very long time, until you cannot hear it working), is to change the power settings.
go to control panel, choose "power options", then see if you have "choose what closing the lid does". If it's not there (not all laptops show this option), choose "change when the computer sleeps", then change " put the computer to sleep" to "never".

That should do it. if you have any questions feel free to ask me.

Windows xp won`t boot up. Get error messages services.exe and Lsass.exe and screen goes black...thank you....

Unfortunately, Lsass.exe is the security policy manager for Windows XP. You only options will be to try and press F8, and choose "Last Known Good Configuration." If that doesn't work, you will need a Windows XP CD. Enter that into the drive and boot to the CD. Go to Repair (not Recover Console). This will rebuild Windows XP, and keep your data intact.

Good luck, and I hope this helps somewhat!

Dell Latitude C610 Laptop won't turn on

If the light comes on for three seconds and then go out ,generally means a power distrubution problem . remove the optical drive and memory from the system and try powering it on. If u get the same result , its time to take it to service tech , as your motherboard needs to be checked
