Our HP F4180 all-in-one printer will not scan at all. When we first got it it would, but not now. Also, intermittenly it will not print from our PC. If you want to print something...it might print it after about 3 days, when you don't need it any longer.

Has the scanning resolution been changed? That is the most common reason why the scan would take a long time to complete. If you're just scanning for the web, set the resolution to 72dpi and see if that speeds it up.
Use the disc that came with the printer and uninstall the Imaging Device and then reinstall it again. It should work.
When you click on uninstall you will be given two options: To uninstall everything or choose software to uinstall.
Choose the second one, that way you won't have to uninstall everything.
If you've have finished doing so. Try scanning again, there;s a big chance it would work now.
The HP Photosmart Software must also be
installed and running on the computer before scanning.
Check that the USB cable is firmly plugged in to the printer and computer. Unplug the power cord both from the wall socket, and the printer. Wait 60 seconds. Re-attach the power cord securely. Power on. Try the scan again.
Under normal circumstances, a blinking power button just means that the machine is busy with a task. Be sure to let it finish its current task before initiating another.
Sometimes this happens when you have pressed the scan button on the printer, to no avail, and then try it on your computer..... Try disconnecting the printer from your computer, and powering down the printer, then reconnect printer, and restart it, and try scanning FROM THE COMPUTER.
Please go to control panel> printers and faxes, and choose your printer and make sure it is set as default printer. If it is set so already, please try to print from Word and note the exact error message you are getting and report back. Include your operating system info.
