Question about Pioneer PDP-4270HD 42 in. Plasma Television
The unit has historically had a type of hissing noise coming from the back of it , I have extended warrenty and as such they replaced the power board and the ysus board ( or called similiar). That was last week , it never cured the hissing noise and it also started it switching its self off randomly.
Today it won't even come off stand by , instead trys to fire up, gives the red stand by light then powers down and starts a sequence of flashing blue LEDs, flashes 8 times then pauses then repeats, on some occassions it flashes 13 times but generally 8.
Pls tell me there is a key pad fix for this although I know I'm not that lucky!
I've currently got it unplugged hoping this will have some magical healing effect!
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Ok here's how I manage solve the problem... Having the back removed opens the contacts on the interlock switch so I guess if it powers up in this state it senses the high voltages are exposed and for safety shuts down... After this the unit will not power up and the power led flashes red continuously as described before…
After some thought it occurred to me that there may not be a problem at all, just be a simple reset function for this condition… I managed to find an easy solution to this… Just call up the hidden engineer’s service menu – On 3rd generation Pioneer Plasmas it’s as follows > Power down the screen > Hold down the “Input” and “Vol +” buttons on the front > Power the screen up and the Service menu comes up on the screen > You don't need to change anything just simply power off and from then the screen should operate as normal…It did for me so I’m well happy now!!
I hope this information will help someone else one day – Good Luck!!…Rob UK…

Just seeing if you had resolved the problem as my mum's Pioneer PDP-433HDE which she bought back 2002 has developed this same fault.
It has been a perfect TV and done very well with plenty of good use, but I have a feeling the cost of repair - even if it is possibale will be costly.
