Question about Fisher and Paykel Fisher & Paykel Washer

Fisher paykal GWL10 top loading washer

Worked fine then started beeping when in SPIN - unplugged and reconnected after a while (twice) as recommended in troubleshooting guide of booklet. No error code will show. Will start SPIN with the usual DRAIN but the water drains back into the tub. I was able to confirm that the drum is attached, rigged container inside drum to drain most of remaining water and now it progresses with SPIN but since the water drains into the tub it won't complete. I believe it is a plugged up drain, not sure how to get to that part best.

Is there a way to get a schematic for this type of washer since it is a belt-free design not your usual standard machine?

Thanks, Rescue Tech, for responding. Question: do I access the diverter valve by laying washer on its side and getting from underneath the tub or do I need to remove the tub?

    Hi Rescue Tech,
I am new to the forum - your reply was absolutely detailed and very helpful, I thought the fixya follows when a member has fixed the problem. I will follow up with a rating, of course.

Hi. I work on these machines every day.
The problem with your model 10 is that the diverter valve is not in the DRAIN position, so when the pump runs, it is sending the water right back into the tub. The issue is one of two things-
Either the tab on the diverter valve has physically broken off and the machine needs a new diverter valve, or there is a short in the machine's controller and it is sending a constant signal to that valve, causing it to never be in the DRAIN position. When the diverter is NOT energized, the flap is at rest and the water will go out the drain. When the valve IS energized, the water is supposed to go thru the recirculation hose.
You want to check that diverter valve first and formost. That's going to tell you what you need to know. Look closely at it and you'll see if the little tab that goes from the wax motor to the flapper lever is broken off. The diverter valve is located down underneath the tub in the right rear, it has three hoses attached to it and two wires. It's grey in color and the little wax motor is brown.

Gwl10 us won't fill

there's a few possibilities here.
is the water on?
does the machine start and turn the bowl, and not fill? then you have a valve fault.
when you press start, does it beep like normal? if not, you have a start button fault.

Fisher & Paykel GWL10 begins to spin for about 15 to 20 seconds, just starts to pick up some speed, then machine beeps and shuts down. Seems like the water is draining. Any ideas? It has also been...

Yes it does seem like a control module fault.Bit concerned about the noise coming from the machine even thou it is not running. Please turn it off at the power point when not in use.Now if and when it faults again please reply back with error code as per 1st posting.

I have a fisher paykel GWL10 washing machine. It shuts off while

At this stage i can suggest that the inlet valve may be faulty & giving off this burning smell.open the control box & see if one of the 2 inlet valves look distorted or brown or burnt looking.I'm wondering if it's not filling very fast also, this could also be an indication of the valve.

Both of you most likely are getting a "RPS Sensor Fault"
On a GWL10, when the motor rotor position sensor fails, it will act exactly like you describe. Many techs incorrectly replace the machine control or the water inlet valve(s). The RPS sensor is much cheaper. If you consult the tech sheet located under the control panel, you will see the fault code for RPS failure and I would bet the farm that the sequence of LEDs displayed when your washer faults out matches exactly with the RPS fault code.

The RPS sensor for GWL10 and GWL11 models is a part # 420296P and canbe purchased direct from Fisher Paykel Parts:

The procedure to replace it is a little involved but a handy person can do it. It would be best to consult the factory service manual and again, that can be purchased from Fisher Paykel Parts direct here:

If the machine still has water in it, the drain pump is jammed or there may be an obstrution in one of the hoses. It is most likely the drain pump. Switch off the machine at the wall and unplug it. Tilt machine against a wall and look underneath. On the right you will see the drain pump. It looks upside down. Unplug the wiring harness to the pump and remove pump by turning it clockwise while at the same time releasing the little white clip that holds the pump in place. Clean thoroughly and replace pump.

I had the same problem. I unplugged the machine for a while (overnight) and it then worked properly when I plugged it back in. Probably just a circuit board issue that was cleared with the power removed.
