My mom and dad just had there tv in to get the remote sensor repaired and when they brought the tv back now when the news is on and there is stuff appearing at the bottom of the screen you can only see the top 1/2 of the words. Like the picture needs moved up.
It is possible the picture format is set to stretched. look for a button on the remote that can do this. it could also be the signal. try looking at a different channel that has lettering along the top and bottom and determine if the entire picture looks like it needs to be moved up. if after all this you can still determine that the picture is misaligned post the model number and i can help you move it up.

why would you add your R1 but subtract their R1 ?
You state R50 minus R1 comes to R49 for both and then you add your R1 ?
So if you gave your R1 to Mum and Dad you would subtract 0.50 from what you owe them .
Being 48.5 plus 48.5 and this equals R47
So the R1 is in your pocket as with a credit account it works opposite to a debit account.
In a credit account payments in are subtracted (basic accounting )
Withdrawals are added to account balance.
It is opposite to a savings account
Hi, Please replace batteries in remote and check. Try another Sony tv remote or Sony dvd player remote that also has power, volume and channel up/ down buttons for Sony tv. If no remote works on this tv then it would be bad remote sensor located on front of tv, its small circuit board that will be replaced to solve the issue and local tv repair shop will help you if you are not familiar with electronics stuff repair. Hope this will help. Thanks.
With a big city nearby, you should have no problem finding someone who can repair your vintage device, I don't blame you for wanting to keep it, they had a nice mellow sound and are getting rare. For a bit people were just junking these things, (which contributes to their value). You don't say if the other functions still work so not sure how much this might cost to repair. Parts for this old of device may be hard to find, but if you look in the yellow pages under TV repair or Electronics Repair, look for a small "mom and pop" type of repair shop, the older the better since they may have the parts you need in their storage room. have fun and while I can't say what its worth, why would it matter if you love it anyway. I have stuff like this and keep it for the same reason you do, the modern stuff doesn't have the class or the sound of the old stuff.
The extra dollar is still in your pocket, you only gave a total of $2.00 back but you got $3.00 back from the store when you gave them the $100.00 That plus the fact that the problem didn't have anything to do with motherboards.
I'm pretty ignorant on a lot of this stuff, so no bets here, but I did get the Dish network remote to power a Norcent tv on and off by using the code posted in the manual for an NCT television. Good luck.
IF THE TV DOESN'T HAVE A BUTTON U NEED THE REMOTE, U MAY GET AWAY WITH A UNIVERSAL BUT ONLY IFNITS THE SAME BRAND MAKER OTHERWISE U MAY HAVE GET THE REMOTE IF POSSIBLE OR USE A VCR AS THE NEW TURNER FOR THE TV, WHICH U CAN USE THE VIDEO OUTOUT TO INPUT THE SIGNAL INTO THE TV
You will need to get to the control board and see if any of the front panel buttons are sticking. if they are not, you will have a bad switch or the remote sensor is defective. If you have no TV repair experience. you will need to consult a pro to assist you with this repair. Good Luck
