Won't fax -printer message is "will dial soon"

I have a HP4110 all in one printer and have had no problems in faxing. Suddenly I can't fax at all - when I enter number and hit start it immediately puts message up "will dial soon" but it never does. Have tried sending to several numbers, unplugged and replugged everything, rebooted, talked to my carrier since my DSL line is my fax line and DSL is working fine
Would appreciate any help - dead in the water

Need to know what bod rate is on my fax

older fax machines used a 9600bps baud rate, meaning a transfer rate of 9600 bits per second. a Bit being an 7th/8th of a byte. The newer machines can transfer at 14400bps, which older machines can not read, as its too fast. thats why they asking the BAUD rate.

Fax error message = TX cancelled:RX fax info mismatch???? Cannot send fax - How do I fix this error - Not all faxes return this message

Two Issues:

1. The Transmission Speed of the MX860 may be too fast.
Solution: on FAX Menu go to Settings>Device Settings>FAX Settings>Transmission Settings >"TX start speed" and change to 14400 or lower (14400 worked for me).

2. The recipient FAX machine may be receiving by a different number than the one you dial. This may occur if you dial a free-calling no.
Solution: Go to Transmission Settings as above>"Check RX fax info" and turn it to OFF. This disables the mismatch issue.

Hope this helps. aknz

Disable call waiting is only set to "yes" if you have call waiting, press "menu" then scroll down to "reset all setting" make sure to backup phone entries before doing this . Follow the "fax settings" below:

FAX SETTING FOR 5500 (VOICE MAIL)
- ANS. MODE TO "YES"
- ANS. MACHINE RINGS "3"
- FAX RINGS TO ANS. "4"

FAX SETTING FOR 5500 (ANSWERING MACHINE)
- ANS. MODE TO "YES"
- ANS. MACHINE RINGS "4"
- FAX RINGS TO ANS. "3"

Answering machine problems with Lexmark X4270

Thats an easy one, if the all in one is attatchd to pc and not stand alone, go into your pc settings, go to printers and faxes under control panel and take the fax off default setting. It will no longer be able to dial the fax and should revert to answereing. also check if your fax mode is set correctly for what you want. It may be on fax mode only so it automatically dials fax. Good luck.

Hi, Remote Fax Error being displayed

What happens if you dial the remote fax number as a voice call on another phone? Does that number pick up? Does it give you the modem handshake noise? If not, the remote side has a problem.
Can you fax other numbers? What happens when you dial your own fax line from another phone? If your fax does not pick up and talk to you, your fax may have a problem.

Office jet all in one printer 4215

If you are using speed dial to dial the fax number, the HP Officejet
might be dialing too fast or too soon. To solve this problem, try one
of the following:
Try manually dialing the fax number from the HP Officejet front
panel, or from an attached phone. For information, see send a
fax using monitor dialing
on page 43 or send a fax manually
from a telephone
on page 43.
Re-create the speed dial setting and insert some pauses. For
information, see create individual speed-dial entries on
page 56.
If your telephone line has a PBX system, make sure you are dialing
the number for an outside line before dialing the fax number.
The receiving fax machine might be having problems. To check this,
try calling the fax number from a telephone and listen for fax tones.
If you cannot hear fax tones, the receiving fax might not be turned
on or connected, or a voice mail service could be interfering with
the recipient’s phone line.

Original jam message

A semi-full reset returns the user settings to the factory defaults.
It also deletes the following information:

* Language and country settings on some models
* Fax logs
* Fax headers
* Fax speed dial information

To perform a semi-full reset first unplug the power cord, then press and hold the "#" and 6 buttons on the front panel keypad while plugging in the power cord.
