Hard drive caddy stuck

I have a dell inspirion 2600 and am trying to replace the hard drive. The hard drive caddy that is already installed in my laptop will only come out about 2 inches after I un-srew the retaining screw to insert a new hard drive.

Use your recovery discs that came with your computer. If you dont have them then you can call dell to send you a new set.

Dell inspirion 1525 will not boot upon power up...only displays locked 9 light solid

This is a Hard Drive error. If your unit is under one year old, you can get the drive replaced by Dell.
The drive can be accessed outside the laptop to retrieve the data, but it may fail all together very soon.
If you have no data on it, just get a new Hard drive installed. Dell should be able to replace the drive and start the system restore for you.

Drive Options with a Dell Poweredge 2600

I would definitively not recommend to remove the backplates, unless you want to ask for serious trouble with your system.

I would install a PCI SATA adapter card (one like these) and connect your SATA drives to it.

CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO GET WINDOWS XP TO LOAD ON THE DELL 2600 POWEREDGE SERVER IT ONLY OFFERS SERVER 2000 AND SERVER 2003 AND I CANT USE EITHER OF THEM THANKS MIKE

Hi tham01,

First off, if the server has raid already setup, you will need to go into lsi logic to format the drives so you can install XP. Once the drives have been initiated from the server bios, just place XP in the CDROM, and shouldn't have a problem loading on the 2600 POWEREDGE SERVER. If your trying to install it with the Dell quick install disk, you can't!!! Install it on it's own without the Dell Disk.

Good Luck!

I need to add more hard drives to my poweredge 2600

You'll probably need to get caddies for the drives. You can get them from Dell by plugging in your service tag at http://support.dell.com.

Dell poweredge 2600 upgrade

Look at the service tag on the unit and go to support.dell.com to get the specs on the exisitng drives. Mine came with Seagate Ultra320 SCSI 80Pin 15K drives, You can shop for the 146GB versions and use your existing caddy's if you would like.
