I'm on my second BJC 5000, a refurbished printer sent by Canon to replace
defective one. This new one also works erratically.
It's almost impossible to find ink for this machine at Staples, Compusa. I'm
told that Canon is no longer making this printer because of problems with
it.
A bit much for those of us who bought a BJC 5000 barely a year ago!

The supplies for the BJC 5000 are the same as those for many other Canon
printers - like the 4000 series, 2000 and later BJC 5100 among others. These are
generally the most common printer cartridges available. If you can't find them
locally, it is the local stores' problem.

Aside from the usual driver updates, my refurb BJC5000 worked (and is working)
fine out of the box.
My local OfficeMax has them as did the local Staples last I checked. Besides,
they'e MUCH cheaper from web vendors.
It was already discontinued a year ago and replaced by the BJC5100!
