Car stereo unit XR-C2600 is stuck in what appears to be 'demo-mode' with screen alternating the text:"sony...receiever..cassette" constantly as well as bass levels also flashing.
But can't get unit to turn on despite pressing as well as holding numerous buttons on the faceplate.
Have also tried reseting the unit behind the detachable faceplate as per instructions in the manual for when changing car battery, all this does is reset the clock to "1:00", still can't access anything arrrrrghhhhhh.

If only demo mode is playing,it's mean set is in standby mode.Normally in standby mode it can't be operated. You have to power on the set by pressing power botton during demo mode.Once it gets power on,it will start to work according to user required function. If the set not get power on after pressing power botton, then it's an electrical problem and need to visit your nearby repairing centre.
any good car stero shop in your area will do it for free!! (on the hopes you will come back later to purchase from them.
you may try a thin (pointed) wire coathanger on each side, it is simply a hook at the end that needs to be dis-lodged.

1. Press and hold the SRC button until "ILL" appears on the display. 2. Press either the up or down switch until "DE" appears on the display. 3. Rotate the volume control until "DE 0" appears on the display. Don't touch the stereo for several seconds after that, so that it accepts the command and goes back to its normal display!

There could be a loose connection somewhere. Does the sound stops on a regular time interval or only on certain conditions? Would there be a chance that there's water leakage at the area where the CD changer is stored?
