yes dear each two numbers represent one character.
If you go to ASCII chart two hex number represent one number , so to get prefix like for example these two characters AB you need to scan 40 for A and 41 for B so these 4 characters.
<p>The primary purpose of bar codes is to encode the unique
characteristics of numbers and letters can be in a format that machines can
easily read. However, bar codes are read by people often also for this reason,
the codes generally include both parties readable and legible. The most popular
bar codes meet a standard called "Code 39". The latest version of the
code with 39 additional characters called "Extended Code 39." Among
other characters, Extended Code 39 allows users to include carriage returns
(CR) in bar codes. <br />
<p>1. Setting the bar code scanner to read "Extended Code
39," Code 39 is not as common support CR. The details depend on the
specific bar code scanning software is used, but you will usually find this
option under "Tools" then "Options." <br />
<p>2. Configure the software to generate bar code to the
"Extended Code 39" is also used. The details depend on the specific
software to generate barcode is used, but you will usually find this option

<p>3. Type "M $" (without the quotes) at the point
where you want the CR model is within the barcode. M $ gives a CR Extended Code
39. <br />
Without knowing your application or scanner programming I can't be certain but it sounds like the scanner may be reading information on the code that you want parsed out. Check with whomever labels the units to find out exactly what is in the barcode (it's possible the "35 S " is not encoded) and then determine what you need to send to the program you are scanning the information in to. The scanner can be programed to pass along only specific characters that were scanned (i.e. the 13048) and to pre-pend or append additional characters as well (i.e. 35 S ). You'll need the scanner's programming manual to do that. Here's a link to the scanner's programming manual. You have to program your scanner or determine if you have barcode with special characters that trigger this event.

The number of characters read is defined in your application and the width of the printed bar code. Also the width of the laser or ccd.

data types are variables which is used to store values in to the memory for ex: numbers can be stored in the for of integers(int), alphabets and special characters can be storerd as characters(char), date can be stored as date format(date) etc.,
these are called data types:
you are probably reading to a inteligent software package like Excell, which sees the inputted data as a number (so ignores leading zeros) you need to specify to the sytem that the incoming numbers are TEXT not numbers.
Be sure the Flic scanner is set to the factory default configuration by scanning the Defaults bar code given above.
Then check the Format options for Characters to Strip and Characters to Append (see page 10) and make sure these are set correctly.
In order to scan the ?Factory Defaults? bar code in the Flic Operator?s Guide to reset your Flic scanner to the default settings: Select Flicware , Tools , Format and add the appropriate control character(s) in the Characters to Append box.
