My ORITRON MP3 boombox is not working correctly any more so I need a new MP3 boombox. I am mainly considering the RCA RCD148 and the Panasonic RX-D29.
How do these compare? What is the maximum number of tracks and directories each can access? What is the minimum bit rate they can play back? Do either of them have the ability to go back 30 to 60 seconds in a MP3 file? Which one has the better display? Thank you in advance for all replies. -- I just heard a TV commercial about an automobile that has a rear entertainment system. I immediately wondered exactly how would an automobile entertain one's rear and would it be safe to drive while one's rear was being entertained.

I don't think, that the iRiver PMP-120, which as much as I know isn't avaialbe yet can do time shifting. But one could describe it as a boombox with a screen. It has a built-in speaker and a built-in FM tuner.

Don't forget Sony has a new MP3 boombox. The problem with it, like most boomboxes nowadays, that there is no "boom" in the box. They are all way too small to produce good sound. My almost 10 year old portable Sony 6+1 CD changer boombox still has far superior sound than most boomboxes released today.
