Re: I CANT GET MY CAMERA TO COME ON
Do you have a memory card? If so, remove it and then it should come on. A bad memory card will prevent the camera from turning on.
If you don't have a memory card. Install newest batteries possible and try to turn on several times. It should eventually turn on. The zoom may have been dusty or got a piece of dirt which is jamming it shut and preventing camera from turning on.

I think your camera is bricked. If you did remove the battery, and after charging it again, replaced it, and it still does nothing, you only have one option. Contact a certified Nikon service centre. Tell them you tried to update the firmware of your camera, and it then it stopped working. Tell them you did everything as described. First charged the battery and only then you started the procedure.
I think they can revive your camera, but perhaps you have to bring it in, or send it to them. Don't forget to ask in advance, what it will cost if they have to put in the firmware.
i had exactly the same problem, tried different ways on the batteries until my husband realized that u have to install the 2nd battery in BACKWARDS. thats correct, with the head of the battery inside the spring...wth,but it worked.....now if i could only get them to last for more than 5-10 minutes of use!!!!!:/
i got the same message after formatting the card. "this card cant be used"
i reformatted the card again but instead of selecting FAT 32 I selected FAT.
Placing the card in the camera it worked as normal.
Seems to be a simple and easy solution. hope its useful.
So format your card with your computer, you may need a card reader if you don't have one already, go to the SD drove and format it using FAT. place it back into the camera and see if that helps
If you could get into the menu, I would tell you to try a camera "reset". Since you can't, you could try a manual reset. Remove the card and battery...press all the buttons...leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.
i have this camera and i had the same problem
everytime i put in new batteries like 5 seconds later the battery was exhusted i tried cheap and expensive batteries but nothing seemed to work
i would recomend rechargealbe batteries because they last longer but if you prefer one-time use batteries you should change they battery type in the menu/ setup
hope this helps!! good luck
driver doesn't seem to installl, get Windows error 'Unknown Device'....none of the Troubleshooter steps worked. Is there any web place to download a driver that works? The installation auto-run disc seemed to install all the other files/apps smoothly, got the Xvid codec, but can't get Windows to recognize the camera.
Any help appreciated. Thanks.
