I have a used Gateway M350WVN laptop, when I got it I was told it will probably need a new battery, which I did get and try to charge.
If I have only the AC Adapter plugged in the laptop will not power up at all and there are no lights on the front of my laptop.
If I have the battery in and the ac adapter plugged in, the battery light goes orange and there is a faint light where the ac light is. When I hit the power button, it turns on for a second and then all lights go out. Sometimes they come back on in a minute or two and sometimes I have to unplug the ac adapter to get them back on.
When I first got the replacement battery I had it working for 45 minutes and it died on me. It also has a new ac adapter. I am hoping this won't be an expensive fix. Please help!!!! Thanks

If it will not boot after about an hour, press and hold the power button until it powers off. Remove the battery and power supply. Wait 5minutes, fit the charger and power on but press F8 just before it tries to boot. Select Safe Mode and see what happens. It may well recover.

Try using head phones to see if you get sound. If you get sound ur speakers on the laptop are blown, if not it might be the sound circuit. You should check Device Manager to see if ur sound card is showing up or if there is an error on it. If its blown you might not find any sound device or it might be highlighted with an error
Taking Gateway laptops is an easy endeavor. Here is a link to a disassemble of a 3500 series . Basically they all come apart the same.
Hope this helps. Just take your time and remember what screw goes where.
