Question about Samsung DLP HL-P5663W 56" TV
I have the 46 DLP from Samsung and it has been making a weird whining noise when I turn it on and then after about 3-4 rounds of that noise, it shuts off and the front lights blink as if the bulb were bad. I've replaced the bulb and it didn't help. Now, the picture is pixelated in the black areas and on actors skin and some colors. Can anyone tell me what may be wrong with this unit since its apparently not the lamp.
Thanks in advance for any help.

SOURCE: dlp tv will not "fire up"
Hi there, your instruction manual should have a trouble shooting section, and will tell you what various warning lights are indicating (ie the Lamp/Temp lights will flash in a particular sequence), and will give you the probable cause. In some cases, it could be blocked vents (dust causing overheating/shutdown), or just the lamp failure or faulty switch (indicating loose cover).

Power issues (Tv not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast. While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the issue. Samsung is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast). After replacment most people stop having issues.

I'm not a TV repair guy but my owners manual states that when all three LED's or lights on the front of the TV are flashing, that the lamp needs to be replaced. Might want to look into this. Good luck!
