Question about Aprilaire 700 Humidifier
Aprilaire 760- I put in qa new water filter, and cleaned out but still ha ve water leaking out of the bottom of the unit. I cant find a picture of one wit hthe hose that comes out of the bottom. Mine is a thin plastic hose that sticks up into the hole where the water drains. Isn't there supposed to be a hose t here that connects over the hole where the water drains?
Check your plastic water orifice. It is in the hose fitting connected to the outlet tube of the water solenoid. It should be a blue one. Mine was completely eaten through, allowing full water flow, and thus overflowing the distribution tray. I replaced mine yesterday and no more water drips. May as well reflace the filter on the inlet tube of the solenoid at the same time. I used a piece of very stiff, but thin, wire formed into a small hook to remove both old parts. Replacements are readily available from multiple sources on line.

I had the same problem.
I believe it stemms from TOO MUCH water coming in.I am hoping that closing the water source valve slightly will eliminate the overflow.

If your humidifier is leaking, check the SUPPLY tube (plastic, after the solenoid) as well as the drain tube. My supply tube developed a leak where it bends in the corner of the unit after 7 years, and every time I took the filer out to look for the cause of the leak it got worse, until I finally found the leak. A new section of similar 1/4" tubing cost 90 cents at the hardware store--take your old tube with fittings to make sure they fir the new tubing.

I had the same problem.
Put in a new filter and it worked for awhile. At the time, I checked the tube and it wasn't full of water. I assumed it was draining okay. It was pretty nasty looking, but it always had been.
Then the leaking from the bottom of the unit started again (a few weeks later). Turns out it was the drain hose after all. The stuff growing in it was letting the water drain, but not completely.
I pulled the hose out and connected it up to a pressure water source and it wasn't flowing at all. Forced some water through it and lots of nasty white goo came out. I put a little clorox bleach in it and it seems to be fine now. I will probably change the tube routing, so the tube is always dry. Right now it has a slight rise before it goes into the drain, holds water always, and this allows stuff to grow in the tube.
I think when I replaced the filter the first time I squeezed the tube to make sure it wasn't blocked and probably disrupted whatever was clogging the tube temporarily. Only to have the biological experiment in it grow it a few weeks later..
