My washer fills, washes and rinses, but it does not go through the spin cycle to ring out the clothes. What is the problem?

  • 1peggy Feb 16, 2009

My washer will do every part of the cycle except spin. When it's time to spin the timer just shuts off. I've had this for less than 4 years.

I had the same problem with my washer. Frigidaire model GLTF2940ES1. It's a front load. Now I'm not the type to stare at it and then call the repair man, I hate spending more money on something when it already costs an arm and a leg just to buy one. So I started digging around, I pulled the thing apart and looked at this and that. It would go through the cycles just fine, except it wouldn't do the fast spin. So, while pulling panels off, I noticed an envelope taped to the inside of the washer. It was the "Washer Tech Data Sheet" and in it, it will tell you how to get the error code from your washer and then basically tell you whats wrong with it. On models with an LCD display, you push any button to "wake" your machine up,then you push START and PAUSE/CANCEL simultaneously, and after a few seconds an error code will display. Mine was E47. With E47, your board thinks the door PTC circuit is open during spin. It then says to Remove door lock assembly and measure the resistance of the PTO. This I don't know how to do, and I don't know (yet) what PTO stands for. But, this all boils down to your door lock assembly. For the "corrections" part it says to do the following...first, replace the door lock assembly, you can do this yourself, but you have to take off the top panel of the washer. Then, look down and you can see it, it has 3 wires, disconnect them and pull it out. Buy a new one, and put it in. really easy. BUT, if this doesn't fix your problem them chances are its a defective control board. And that, I don't know how to fix. (yet).

My kenmore ad 80 series washing machine won't spin

The lid switch is probably out. Bypass it and see if she magically comes to life. Their are 3 wires to the lid switch 2 of which are live wires. Jumper them 2 live wires and see if she runs in spin.

Model fwt645rhso will agitate but won't drain out, on spin cycle washer spins one way, stops goes back the other way, but water will not drain out. Does not rapidly spin on final cycle. Any...

There's an auxiliary switch in the door lock.switch assembly that is activated at the end of the wash cycle for the machine to advance to the spin cycle. The machine will NEVER advance to the spin cycle unless the auxiliary switch is activated as a safety feature to prevent the door from opening during a high-speed spin cycle that may result in physical injury. The drum tumbles back and forth while the machine control checks the auxiliary if activated but since it's not, the control will not command the motor speed control to spin the drum at high speed. These symptoms may indicate a faulty door lock/switch assembly and may need replacement. Washer will not spin The washer is a frigidaire front loader model LTF2140E53. will cycle through all settings, but will not spin. Cycle ends with clothes soaked.

I have thata probelm a lot too. I have read that the controls don't sense that the door fully shut. You might try slamming it shut, jiggling the door, poking in the hole where the latch goes. When mine won;t spin, slamming and jiggling works.
