Under cabinet light not working

Replaced the bulbs - 2 21" warm flourescents only to have both bulbs very dull...they are much duller than what had been there. No clue on how to fix this - any hints

oh, and I tried about 3 bulbs that I bought at OSH today...could it be defective bulbs?

how do you figure out how to replace the starter or transformer? I just went and bought two new bulbs and the problem still exits. I assume its the unit and I need to figure out what to fix...

Probably not defective bulbs. Flourescents use either a starter and transformer or a ballast. When lights are weak, could be either. Very simple to change too. One other thing, could be connections that go into the lamp holders. If not good connections, light will be dim. On a stretch, if unit is located in an area that us lower than about 50 degrees, this could cause them to be dim. Check ratings on ballast/ starter and transformer. Finally, if voltage is either too high or too low, this could be a dimming problem too. If it has worked in the past, and this is a current problem, then chances are it's not the voltage but may want to check it anyway to eliminate that possibility.

sorry I took so long to get back but I am having some trouble with this site.

I am assuming that power is going throught the off/on switch. With that assumtion, it can only be a loose wire at one of the lamp holders or the start/ transformer or ballast.

After checking the unit for loose wires and as a rule of thumb, you would change the starter first, if it has one, as they are only a few bucks and can be bought just about anywhere. If that doesn't do it, go for the transformer. If the unit has a ballast, just change it. Once again after check for loose wires and power going through the switch.

My food disposer has no sound I need help. Could you help me?

If you open the cabinet door under the sink, you should be able to see the disposer motor. On the bottom or side, there should be a small bump that is the reset button. Push the button in and it should work again.

If it still does not work, make sure that the power cord is plugged into the outlet.

Still not working? Check the fusebox for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.

One last idea: if the outlet that the disposal is plugged into is a GFCI protected plug, there will be a TEST and RESET button in the center of the outlet. Unplug the disposal cord, press the RESET button on the outlet, then plug the disposal cord back in.

What's wrong with it?

Switches have more than one pole. Pole to the lights work ... as does the bulb.
Either the poles to the motor or the motor windings are bad. I'd leave that to a repair shop.

Model khm9qwh5 won't start

This particular model has some sort of internal electronics that require a charge before the unit will function. As a result, when allowed to sit in the cabinet for a long period of time it will simply not turn on. Instead, all you will hear is a "click" noise when you try to power it on. When you get the dreaded "click" noise leave plugged in for several hours and try again.

My mixer is leaking oil. How do I fix it?

Your mixer is leaking grease not oil. It is a simple fix. First you have to open the machine and regrease it. Once you have done that try replacing the gasket. Also, this particular mixer cannot be left on its side (some people store it sideways in a cabinet or under the sink) doing so will cause the machine to leak as well.

Kenwood Chef Excel smells like smoke

It is most likely a burnt out capacitor. They can be replaced for about £30, but it is not a DIY job unless you know a qualified electrician, there is soldering involved!
