Question about IBM Lenovo ThinkCentre M55e PC Desktop

1 Answer

IBM Lenovo Desktop Won't Start Up

We were routinely using the install/uninstall feature
to uninstall a scanner giving us grief. We have done
this previously without incident. Upon re-start we get
the black Lenovo startup screen with the message
''system is starting'' for just a few seconds, then the
machine powers OFF. We are not computer experts
but have tried pressing Enter at the startup screen to
pause the startup then we get three selections: Esc
to resume normal startup, F1 to enter the BIOS, F12
to Choose a temporary startup device. We are
wandering through these options, nothing looks
awry, afraid to press anything. We have tried saving
settings, nothing. We have also tried restore
default settings. Nothing

Also, how can we find the familiar Start Computer in Safe
Mode screen? We are dead in the water, on a
schedule, hellllppppp Please please Thanks so
much.

Suzy in New Zealand

PS I do not know the exact model of our desktop
because I can't access it but the Machine
Model/Type is 8289G4M

Thank you very much for replying but I've already tried that...Problem is that we are not getting past the initial Lenovo startup screen. In other words, it shuts down before we make it to the Windows screen.

I have tried to FORCE the F8 key with no success. The only selections we get are Esc, F1 & F12.

In frustration, I decided to click the first selection in the Bios menu, something about a diskette....and the power stayed on but the screen was blank. That scared the &*% out of me, so I started clicking Esc & F8 furiously, which gave me briefy the Safe Mode selection screen...YAY but when I clicked Start in Safe Mode, it powered off again. I tried to duplicate this random sequence that gave me the safe mode screen but was never able to find it again. So any other ideas when it won't allow to use the F8 key. (sob sob)

Hello maingame123, As your email response was coming in, the phone was ringing with our daughter saying It's overheating...the pavement at our office is 52.5C (126.5F) to which I replied...overheating was the FIRST thing I suggested might be wrong to my hubby....we both forgot that this had happened last year too. How sillly...In New Zealand it is summer, and today was especially hot, 35C (95F) so upon allowing the machine to cool off & a quick clean out, we are up & running again. But I do very much appreciate your time & effort in replying. Thanks very much & come visit sometime :-)

this usually happens when its overheating, make sure the laptop is not excessively hot (im sure you would have mentioned it already but hey ;)

ok when you got the laptop it should have restoration cds with it. have you tried booting the cpu from the cds ?

try pressing F12 and selecting to boot from cd

Graphics software for lenovo 2048

The same model Lenovo can have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless you know exactly which one is installed in your Lenovo, you need to download all the drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download the video and drivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a record of which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files are located on your hard drive. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows device drivers for your model computer, Use this link: - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true

C:/Progam Files/blocktards/unins000.dat what is this error and how do i fix it

Hello crouch8323,
Welcome to FixYa.Com!
Unins000.dat is a files that if used by Blocktards' uninstaller to properly uninstall Blocktards off of your Desktop. If your are trying to uninstall Blocktards and you are getting an error message, I recommend that you uninstall Blocktards from the Control Panel's Add & Remove Program (for Windows XP) or Programs & Features (for VISTA or 7). If you still have the same error message, you can also try uninstalling Blocktards by going to the Start Menu, All Programs, Blocktards, and click Uninstall. If these steps give you the same error message, you may need to use Blocktards installer to uninstall the game, see if running the installer gives you the option to modify, remove or repair. And if all else fails you can always use a 3rd party uninstaller software like the option found in CCleaner.

Do you have your cds that came with your computer? I have fixed that problem on Gateway, Fujitsu and Dell where the Windows Update killed that feature and had to restore it. Please post back if you still have a problem with that. Lenovo (IBM) also has an excellent support site.
