it is most likely the dmd board on the light engine. very expensive and parts may be hard to find for a projector that age. you could try to find a 4800 on ebay for parts....

Screenplay 5700one horizontal line across entire screen, comes on

this could be the main board or the dmd board on the light engine. you can try disconnecting, cleaning the connections with an approved board cleaner, blow the connections completely dry and then reseat the connections firmly. This has worked many times for me. If the problem still persists you will have to have the projector tested to find out what needs to be replaced.

Half inch crystal/ solid white vertical line on screen

Adjust the horizontal in the menu then try the overscan adjustment. If the image does not look dim you do not need a lamp.

Blue lines on screen

what kind of blue lines ? vertical, horizontal or what. If they are uniform and pulsating, you can try to reseat the engine to the main board. I would clean the connection before reseating it with an approved board cleaner. if that don't work, it is either the engines board or the main board. Hard to tell without a test fixture.

Scrolling Horizontal lines

This usually happens when some other appliance is causing noise on the AC power. Try powering the projector from an outlet by itself and whatever else you're running from a different outlet, preferrably one on a different circuit breaker if possible.

Vertical lines appear on screen

if they are horizontal, there is a ground loop problem. plug the source and the projector into the same power strip. if they are vertical, the clock and phase are off. reset the settings to factory default. then select auto image.

We have an InFocus L120 and the is a vertical line with a band of horizontal lines about three inches in width that flicker from the top to the bottom of the screen.

The connection between the main board and the dmd board might have some dust in the connection. If that doesn't work then your dmd board needs to be repaired or replaced. I do projector repairs if interested my ebay id is gtitubro

Displays only narrow horizontal band of light on screen do you have any ideas

What you haveis most likely a horizontal collapse, You will have to take the unit in and have it repaired, go to a trusted techie though, Its most likely just a "cold solder joint," few minutes to fix if that is it and if the tech will admit that it is something so simple.
If you take your hand and hit the side of the projector does the line react at all? If it flashes even slightly then you are on the right track
Unfortunately a cold solder joint can sometimes be difficult to locate and due to the intigration you can no longer just check the horizontal control sect of the board....You may try asking the tech If he/she believes it "may" be a cold solder joint......good luck
