This kind of error message could mean the phone is completely locked. Did you try putting in a passcode too many times?
It is asks for PUK code, call your mobile provider. That's just want the retailer will do. Saves you time and gas.

Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer.

When you get that error I am afraid the only thing you can do is as it says, contact the retailer. This is unless you know someone very handy because the fault can vary depending on what has gone wrong, the error really does not give that much information.
Good luck, and please if you find my answer helpful please give it thumbs up :)

My nokia 6680 can't start up is telling me to contact a retailer

Press the " *, Green, 3 " it boots the phone like normal.
You can make phone call and everything.
(it actually BYPASS "contact retailer" screen)

But when it auto shuts down or low in battery.
when you switch it on again.
It comes back to the screen
"Phone start-up failed"
"please contact retailer"
So the above mentioned is the temporary solution. For permanent one please contact customer service center.

Dont forget to rate me. Thank you.

Mobile startup failed . contact the retailer

hi,
Your phone's memory card must be infected with virus or has some fault. Please remove the memory card and try to start the phone again. If it goes through, please back up the data in your memory card and format it. In most cases, this procedure solves the "Phone start up failed. Contact the retailer" error.
I'd advice you to format your phones internal memory as well, it will flush out any errors present. save your "phonebook" data somewhere and Make sure your phone's battery is fully charged if not plug the charger in and proceed. NB: interrupting this process might render your phone useless. So, be careful.

To format press *#7370# it will prompt you for security code, enter it and the phone will reboot. Your phone will be reset to "factory settings."

Nokia 3230 start-up failed

have you tried reformatting it??

try this

12345 is a standard code and 00000, but if you change it and you have forgotten your unlock code, you'll just have to reformat it

key combination which is used to hard reset the phone (similar to #*7370). It is useful in some cases, for example when the phone cannot reboot.

The trick is
Switch off the phone.
Hold down the following three buttons: Green (call answer) button, * button, and ‘3′ button
While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone
When the message ‘Formatting’ appears on the screen, release all of the buttons...

reformatting your phone will delete all your data and also will restore all the defaults of your phone, and any corrupted application will be reinstalled, but if the formating doesn't work, you'll just have to re flash it, the safe way is to go to a near repair shop of your phone and have then to re flash your phone,
