first of all install Spybot search and distroy
go to Start > Run > Type MSconfig Go to Startup Tab .
you will see there entries in unknown language in last 2 or 4 lines
disable it

Universal serial bus virus delete

Start ->run -> type cmd -> type attrib -r -a -s -h *.* and press enter.
What this basically does is removes the read only, archive, system and hidden file attributes on the files so that the virus or the container of virus will be shown.

Within the command prompt you will run the delete command to delete these suspicious files as the are shown up, example type del Autorun.inf or del New Folder.exe.

When you have finished doing that unplug your flash drive, update your anti-virus and scan your entire system.

Last but not least plug back your flashdrive into your computer and scan it with your anti-virus.

Viruses on flash drives are usually spread because windows has the Autorun feature set automatically run by default and this needs to be disabled.

Here is the easiest and fastest way by far to disable the autorun feature.

Download Disable_autorun.reg registry key.
Click Save to your computer ->Rigt click on file -> click run
Click Yes to confirm addition to the registry

Make ESET NOD32 Anti-Virus Auto Scan Flash Drive

Everyone doesn't want computers infected with a virus. The question is, where the virus entered into the computer. There are two possibilities, may be infected from the Internet or external device (flash drive, memory cards, external hard drives, etc). Flash drives are external devices that are often used. When we insert the flash drive to the infected computer, flash drive will be infected with the virus. In a flash drive that is infected, will form the autorun.inf file. Autorun.inf files will work automatically, every flash drive is inserted. Setting the default operating system is windows autorun when inserted an external device. Autorun windows, used by the autorun.inf, to enter into the computer. To protect your computer from viruses, there are a few things done:
1. Update anti-virus
2. Setting anti-virus in the guard position
3. Turn off windows autorun
4. Make anti virus auto scan flash drives

Turn off autorun Windows

Win Xp : Press START - run - regedit - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer - NoDriveTypeAutoRun - Value Data - Type = ff - OK

Win Vista / 7 : Press START - Control Panel - Hardware and Sound - Autoplay - uncheck "Use Autoplay for all media devices" - SAVE.

Make ESET NOD32 Anti-Virus Auto Scan Flash Drive

Using software USB Safely Remove. Open software USB Safely Remove - click View - Options - Global Autorun - After device plugging - click Add process to launch list - click browse, open directory C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\ecls.exe - Open - then double click the drive letter, to add parameter %DriveLetter% - then, on the tab File name and parameters, write /log-file=c:\report.txt /log-rewrite /aind - OK. Then. click Add process to launch list - write "C:\report.txt" - then unchecked "Wait for the process to finish" and "Launch the process for drives only" OK - FINISH.

I have a Toshiba flash drive. I used to plug in to computer and it would ask if I wanted to scan, now I plug in and it opens automatically. It will not let me add information and save. A message comes on...

Hi uva5,

This seems to be a problem as a result of auto run virus which has probably infected your flash drive, an autorun virus modifies the autorun.inf file in the root drive of your flash drive so that it can execute commands that are mentioned in that file, most probably , it will execute a .exe file which is hidden in your pen drive by the virus so that your flash drive malfunctions and takes up much of your memory , i.e. physical memory used to run programs faster to which we call RAM.

I would recommend you the following steps to make sure that your drive is functioning properly.

  1. Do a through scan of your flash drive and make sure that it's virus free , by a reliable antivirus software , there are some good ones available for free, I would recommend you download AVG free version if you don't have one , so that you can use it to scan your flashdrive. http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition-2011/3000-2239_4-10320142.html
  2. After you scan your flash drive , and the anti virus heals the detected viruses or deletes them , you should not have this problem.
Hope this helps.

Hello Expert\r\nI am rohit, i have a transcend 2GB pen drive. But when i insert my pendrive into my laptop it doesn't show in my computer and my laptop hangs. Then i switch off my laptop after that pen drive...

I recommend installing Avast 5 free antivirus, click here.
You must register Avast!
It will update automatically, then do full system scan on your Laptop.
Then scan your Flashdrive.
By doing this you would be ruleing out the possibliity of a virus infection.

Please take the time to rate my expertise, by rating this solution, its the thumbs up on the top right hand side of this solution.
Thanks

My USB 4GB FlashDrive is no longer able to be found on any computer.

Your USB drive could have a virus on it, preventing detection by computers. Try plugging it into an independent USB hub that plugs into the computer. Next format, or, run a virus scan to see what happens then.

Hope this helps. :)

Computers restarts on inserting usb pendrive problem

The reason is simple, once some virus has infected the pen drive and has created autorun entries, it can run any-kind of task through auto-play feature.

So to fix it, we first of all need to Disable Autoplay on all removable drives. see the following link http://www.troublefixers.com/how-to-protect-your-computer-from-virus-in-pen-drives/

After this, Insert the pen drive, do not open the drive or double click on it, simply insert it. Now its time for some cleaning by removing Virus created autorun entries, see this following link for removing autorun entries.
http://www.troublefixers.com/scan-and-remove-suspicious-autoruninf-with-autorun-eater-virus-removal-tools/

That is it, its done. But if you still face problem with the drive, format the pen drive. We hope you find it useful.

I cannot format my kingston 2gb USB flashdrive.

The drive is probably infected with some kind of viruses which are capable of creating bad sectors. What I would suggest is to run a virus scan on the drive and see if it finds anything. Then run check disk or anyother diagnostic tool of your choice. Norton disk doctor(if you have it) is very good at this job. If it still doesn't work then I would assume that it is some kind of conflict in the USB controllers and will guide you through the troubleshooting that.

Sai.
