In article < says...
It will work with the Windows 2000 drivers but the camera wizard is
useless.
Let the computer detect your camera via the USB Port and go to device
manager. You should see your camera with a ? mark. Now go to properties
and manually install the driver which you can get at
#
XP Camera support is very poor but at least you'll be able to use it.
FWIW I'm told that you can't use Twain and USB to link your camera. It
has to be one or the other. Anyone know if this is true?

On a slightly off-topic note, I installed XP home edition on one of our
computers a few days ago and it seems great for photography so far. Improved
photo browsing features IMO and it hasn't crashed yet, despite being left on
for fairly long time intervals. Overall, I am impressed, but I can't help
feeling that the XP design is a bit goofy looking. I mean, I'm not in the
3rd grade, I don't need a big and colorful "back" button on my Internet
Explorer browser. Thank god it offers you the ability to revert to the
"classic" menu look.

Try the msnews.microsoft.com news server, there's an xp photo group, but it
doesn't seem to be getting a lot of answers right now. There seems to be a
LOT of scanners and cameras that aren't working, not working right,
including quite a few that worked on pre-release versions, but have had
drivers and inf files removed from the final version.
The pre release version detected and installed my Oly C2100 without any
problem, but I'm a bit reluctant to install the final version on anything
that matters now, because the driver may have been removed. I note that the
C3000 drivers have been removed from the final version, and workarounds are
being found, but not easily.
Unless you have a spare machine to test it on, I'd suggest you wait to find
someone who has one working. Even with a spare machine, you then have to
ask uncle Bill for permission to install it on your regular machine if it
works.
I just plugged in a SCSI card on my XP machine to test the CD software,
since my nice deluxe EZCD creator 4 isn't supposed to work any more with XP,
but it choked on the Adaptec card...couldn't even manage to get a bug report
off without freezing until I removed the card. It's the same card that I've
put in Win98 and ME without any incident except a quick "installing..."
notice.
It may install and work fine for you, but at this point if I only had one
computer, and needed everything to work, there's no way I'd put XP on it for
now.
