Whirlpool washer LLR6144BQ1 hums when START button pressed. After replacing capacitor, still no start but humming reduced to barely audible. What gives?

there will be a shorted turn in the motor windings you will have to replace the motor but check with the Whirlpool engineer first for a quote on the job in hand eric

My pump hums when you turn it on but doesn't turn. If I then give the impeller a gentle turn it kicks in? It then runs till I assume it's hot, then the motor stops till it cools.

the hum is from the motor being powered but not turning. repeatedly letting this happen may burn out the motor. It is possible that one of the windings is already fried so the motor cannot develop enough torque to start rotation.

WHY DOES THE DRYER ONLY HUM WHEN I TURN IT ON?

If the hum sounds like the motor is running, you may have a broken belt. If it sounds like the motor is jammed you may have a locked up motor or something got through the lint screen area and has jammed the fan. Hope this helps.

Motor hums does not circulate water

Most likely running it dry has locked your pump causing the motor not to be able to turn. Consistant running efforts will eventually burn up your pump motor. You can probably get a new pump at your local pool and spa supply. Sometimes you can get the pump and motor together and save money in the labor.Check ebay.

Whirlpool LER 6620 heats, but does not tumble.

if the dryer heats the motor should be good. if it hums its either runing or the hum is a stall noise . if belt is in tact then if motor were going so would the drum . so i think the motor isn't going just humming and the heat sw in the motor is stuck closed with lint and you need to replace the motor .. take the belt off and turn motor if it turns free . the blow it out good and reinstall belt and try again ..mm

Cooling fan hums and turns slow.

You will need to replace the cooling fan motor. Remove it and check the numbers on the fan and then do an online search for the motor. you can also contact a website called the repairclinic.

8 year old Whirlpool gas dryer will not run - it just hums when put on any setting. Is this a motor problem or the belt?

it sounds like the motor....generally before the motor dies the motor will become louder and louder, and when its hot and you try to restart it it will make a loud hum as it tries to turn
