Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

Rth230b honeywell display screen faint

The display is very faint and everything is shown, all the icons, just faint. I cannot program it, heat is on, can't set the time it won't work, makes a fast buzzing clicking noise. Happened after I touched it with a static electrical shock, which happens all the time in this house. What should I do? Would getting a new one solve this problem? I already tried replacing batteries many times.

I walked across the room and shocked my TH104 Economizer by Cosmo thermostat and then it wouldn't work after that. I tried re-setting it, and it still won't allow me to program it. I also tried replacing the bateries and still nothing. The screen either displays everything in 8's or 0's, but I can't get it to allow me to change the temperature. I'm assuming I have to get a new thermostat based on your comment to the previous person?

Mike, The static electrical spark probably 'zapped' the Rth230b Honeywell Display unit. If you have already tried removing the power (batteries) from the unit and after waiting several minutes; reapply the power (batteries). If the problems remain unchanged, then it is time to replace the Display unit with a new one. The static electricity problem is problematic and the only way to prevent the same problem from recurring is to discharge yourself before touching the Honeywell Display. As you walk across the room which (probably has carpet), causes the static electricity to build up on your body and then discharges itself through the Display unit when you make contact with the Display unit. You might try coming to a complete stop and attempt to discharge the static charge on your body by touching the wall first with one hand for a second before touching the Display unit with the other hand. Naturally, cold weather with low humidity makes the static electricity worse. Hopes this helps you. Henry

I do not have the same thermostat but did need to turn my display off when sleeping downstairs near the thermostat. So, I called my utility company that installed the Honeywell Utility Pro Series Thermostat and here is how to do it. It was not in the Honeywell User Manual located at:

http://www.bgesmartenergy.com/media/pr/thermostat-operation-manual.pdf

  1. Press System – it will blink
  2. Press & Hold Square 3 + 5 at the same time
  3. 120 change with up arrow to 280
  4. 0 = OFF and 1 = ON
  5. Hit Done button
That is it for mine! Hope this helps.

How do I get my honeywell system up and going?

for now, put switches on thermostat to hear and press the up arrow button to the desired temp. All your programed temps will take more explaining and it would be best you secure a owners instruction book from home depot. oif anything, buy thr same thermostat and either keep it or return it . I'd keep it regardless, read the pmphlet, program you heat and a/c before returning for refund. Don't destroy packaging and give them back everything. You will also need two AAbatteries. Good luck.

Honeywell rth230b won't shut off heat

Sounds like a relay sticking. Possibly in the thermostat or possibly the furnace relay at the furnace. The next time it happens, unplug the thermostat from the wall. If the furnace still runs then it's the furnace relay.

Hope that helps...

There are so many products, we cannot help without the model no. Try typing 'Honeywell programmable electronic thermostat' into google and searching for an image of your thermostat, then get the model no. Then you might be able to get some help.
