My computer does not recognise me as the administrator

My computer will not let me change any settings or download any updates because it tells me to contact the system administrator. This is my home computer and I am the only user so how do I convince the computer that I AM the BOSS???

    Solution does not apply. The start button only gives three options; stand by , turn off , restart..... there is no log off option.

    What version of windows are you using?  Password protected? Try this; When starting the computer  ,press F8. Go into windows that way,minimized and see if you can then do it.

this sounds like a driver problem

click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll through all of your devices


if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark ? ! or a red X you will need to update the drivers for this device right click select update driver/reinstall driver


if you can see your usb device but its not working scroll to Ports(Com&Ltd) right click to update driver

if you computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it

or you might have to download them

When i plug in my tevion video capture device to the usb port it makes the recognise sound, but im unable to capture video. Whats up???


the drivers might be installed for this device

My computer will not recognise my device. Also I can't set up an acc to buy books it doesn't like my card.


sounds like a driver issue

When camera sd card is entered into PC it is not recognised and cannot proceed to download pictures


if you are having trouble with your sd card being recognised this might be the drivers

You would have to log into your computer under administrator. You may need a password. If you are not the administrator or do not have the password you can not change settings on the computer. You can try going to the control panel and clicking on users to see user information.

Need to set up Vista computer's for others to receive automoatic updates without alloinw them administrative passwords or priviledges


Go to the Start menu and select Control Panel
In the search box, type in "update."
Click on the link to turn automatic updating on or off.
Select from the available options including the time you'd like updates to be downloaded and whether you'd like to be notified and asked before downloaded updates are installed.
1. Go to Start button > All Programs > Windows Update.
2. In the left pane, click Change settings.
3. Select Install updates automatically.
4. Under Recommended updates, select the Include recommended updates when downloading, installing, or notifying me about updates check box, and then click OK.
5. Make sure you click Check for updates to make sure your computer has the latest updates installed. You might need to shut down and restart you machine after the updates are applied.

Usb keyboard no longer recognised during boot process


Restore your PC before the BIOS update. BIOS updates are not required until & unless you face problems while running a software and it will prompt you for BIOS update. Do this update if its vital othewise do not intergere in the BIOS. I faced the same problem and after unistalling all drivers and again reload the original driver from MB VD slved it. Another thing in BIOS is USB setting at high-spped & full-speed. Try changing those settings and retry. Mine worked!...sodeep

My hp pavillion a1013w does not let me update drivers.


Someone uses your computer and create a user accout. Please check this.
Follow this simple solution:
1. Restart your computer
2. Press F8
3. Select to start your computer in SAFE MODE
4. Press Yes whenever you ask something
5. Go to Start-Setttings-Control Panel-User Accounts
6.Change everything, the user name and password
