I am trying to install Roxio My DVD 10 on a Sony SZ laptop with Vista Ultimate and keep getting an error message that "the installation has been interrupted, please try installing at a later time" I've e-mailed Roxio but still don't have a response.

Smithbrother asks if I am trying to install ROXI for a download website ? I'm not sure what that question is supposed to mean. Yes, I did download from Roxio's website if that's what you are asking.

To answer Jesterboy38, I checked on Microsoft's website and they claim that there are no compatibility issues with Vista and My DVD 10. I have to then suppose it is a Sony conflict that needs to be resolved.

    Yes, now I understand.

No this was a full version purchase from Roxio and downloaded from their website. Actually it was 2 seperate downloads, the program 650Mb and the content 750Mb. I tried to install it off line, in fact I downloaded it a second time to a flash drive instead of my hard drive and tried to install it from there but got the same result and error message.

I have asked Roxio via e-mail and they have not responded in the last 72 hours. That's how I came to this website. It was advertised on line as a place to get Roxio questions answered. I am not very satisfied with the $25 I spent and will be communicating with the accounting department and / or my credit card service with a complaint.

If you have the ability to communicate this to your service it would be appreciated.....because I will pursue it.

I would contact ROXI and ask why their software is not compatable.

  • Thomas F. Schneider May 11, 2010

The reason for my asking if you were attempting to install from the internet instead of downloading the program and installing it "off line", is because the error message you received make no sense unless the software is attempting to connect to the internet. Why would you "Try Later" unless it was attempting to connect? Is this a free version?  I have installed ROXI many times on many computer always off line.

I have used my computer for months with no problems. Windows Vista ultimate was installed. it was expired. When I tried to reenter my Product Key I'm told it is invalid. I have tried to activate both over...

When you say vista ultimate was installed, do you mean you installed it yourself?
Is the COA on the bottom of the laptop for Vista Ultimate?
If the COA is not for ultimate( usually home or premium) then the copy of Windows re installed may not be genuine.
If all is well and it is a genuine copy then a call to microsoft is your only option(IF it is a retail copy)
If it is an OEM copy of windows you may have to pay for a new key

Installing Vista on new hard drive- CD/DVD Driver not found

Are you installing from the SONY-supplied "System Restore" CD/DVD disks, or from a "generic" Vista DVD-ROM?

The SONY disks _should_ have the correct drivers for your notebook computer.

Cannot burn AVCHD disk. Get this error

The problem with creator 2009 has been fixed by the roxio people.
Instead of burning directly to the DVD disk as roxio software states,
one needs to first save this to be AVCHD movie as a file and then burn directly from the file. This works OK, but as stated this is different
from what the software claims. I'm happy. Thanks

When installing Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning in Vista message pops up saying the software is incompatible.

Yes, Roxio Easy CD is not compatible with Windows Vista. You either need to remove windows Vista and install Windows XP, or purchase the newest, latest copy of Roxio.

Can't install Sony DDX-A-1010 USB device using Vista.

I had this same problem and found a fix. I do not know if how my system was broken fits your case but it could be worth a try. Looking at the user manual to the camcorder, it said to look in the Device Manager to make sure the driver was installed. It is supposed to appear in the DVD/CD-ROM drives. It did appear there, but with a yellow flag next to it. I have also been having a problem with my DVD/CD drive. Its driver has had a yellow flag next to it for quite some time. Then I realized I was getting the same error message on my camcorder as I had gotten with my DVD/CD driver "Hardware not found (Error 41)." (Please excuse if I am misquoting these error messages, now that the problem is fixed, I do not know exactly what they said. So, I am doing this from memory.) So, I did a google search on "dvd/cd code 41." It took me to a Microsoft website http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314060. Apparently, if you install iTunes, Nero, Roxio Creator, or Zune, it can mess up your registry. This Microsoft website has a "Microsoft Fix it" icon you can click on, and it straightens everything out (it might mess up your installation of iTunes, Nero, Roxio or Zune though). Now, not only does my camcorder work, but my DVD/CD drive is fixed too.

ROXIO Version 10 Cannot recognise a blank disc

I fixed this problem by un-installing the software and re-installing it. I have not yet added any software updates from ROXIO yet. That may affect the solution.

Upgrade to vista ultimate

If you have a full version of Windows Vista Ultimate, you can just insert the DVD when you logged in your laptop and go to Computer(My Computer) and lauch the installer for Windows on DVD icon (Double Click DVD icon). It will give you the main window for installing Windows and along the way, you should find an Upgrade option. Click that one and it will install windows Ultimate on your system. It Will not format the laptop but installer will just add system files and features to the laptop to run Vista Ultimate.

**If you haven't purhcase a Windows Vista Ultimate Disc, check this link to to purchase just an upgrade Disc (only) of Vista Ultimate.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/get/anytime-upgrade-overview.aspx

An upgrade disc will also not format the laptop instead it will just install additional features and add additional files on the system to run Windows Vista Ultimate
