I'm traveling and all of a sudden my on-screen remote control stopped working. I can get into Slingbox and see what's on my tv but I can't use my on-screen control to change channels, etc. It's been working fine for months. Any advise of what to look at?

this will almost definitely be to do with the firewall on the router. You need to access the slingbox from inside the house and re-run the setup wizard which will attempt to configure the router for you
I have read elsewhere that Slingboxes required the Dish Network receivers to be set to Primary Remote Address 1.
To try a fix:
Using the Dish Network Remote Control - 1. Press menu 2 times to get to system info page 2. In the system
info page the Primary Remote Address is in a white box (bubble) followed by a Green TV (1)symbol that
says IR and indicates the channel to which remote control 1 is
If the Primary Remote Address of your Dish VIP722 Remote control 1 is not set to channel 1, here is how to change it:
While displaying the system info page, press and hold the SAT button on
your dish network remote until all other modes are flashing, about 3
seconds. 2. then press the '1' button on the numeric pad of your dish remote 3. then press the '#' button on the numeric pad of the dish remote 4. then press the 'record' button (red dot button - stores setting) 5. At this point you should see a number 1 in front of the primary remote address on the dish system info page
you enter the corresponding IR code into your slingbox remote control per
the instructions in the Slingbox documentation.
I do not know if you have received an answer to your post by other means but I know of no way that that is possible with the current configuration of the receivers Dish has out presently. You have already opted out of the slingbox option so that leaves me with one last suggestion which is that Dish is coming out with a new receiver SOON that will have the slingbox incorporated into it so that you connect it to your ethernet connection and you are in business. I will send you all info on the new receiver if you like.
As I am sure you are aware, the Slingbox is designed to allow you to watch any video source remotely from any computer with an internet connection.
A web-cam would be slightly different, normally web-cams do not have video output, they normally have a USB or Fire-wire connection. There are some software packages and web-cams that allow for remote activation and viewing. These units and programs should be able to be found under "Home Automation" or "Home Monitoring"
